MONOLOGUE: "Feeling as hungry as a bear?

"
Prepare a speech to talk about how healthy Spanish cuisine is. Compare it to international cuisine and
recommend typical traditional dishes of the Mediterranean diet. Do you know how to cook them? Which are
the main ingredients?
To talk about this topic it is essential to use the new vocabulary and expressions related to food and restaurants learnt
in the unit.
The following goals will be achieved by doing this task:

To use accurate vocabulary and expressions when talking about food.


To advise and recommend traditional Spanish dishes.
To explain the steps and procedures to cook these dishes.
To organize an oral speech to give your opinion about a topic.

DIALOGUE: "Get in shape"


You have to perform a role play where Student A is a person who is lately putting on weight and asks for advice
and recommendations from Student B, who is a nutritionist.
To show a good command of the language while performing the dialogue, you should review vocabulary related to food
and think about tips for a healthy lifestyle as well as expressions to give advice and recommend people what to do.
With this oral activity the following goals will be achieved:

To explain to your partner a problem related to your eating patterns and your lifestyle.
To give advice and recommendation to solve a problem.
To practise turn-taking in your interaction.

STUDENT A: Lately you're putting on too much weight. You are working long hours at the office and you just eat
burgers and snacks. It's quicker! You drink little water and eat no fruit. When you arrive home, you open the fridge and
just eat whatever you find there. You don't understand why you are becoming a bit overweight because you eat little
food. Student B is a nutritionist. Talk to him and ask for advice because you want to recover the waistline you used to
have.
YOU BEGIN THE DIALOGUE.
STUDENT B: You are a nutritionist. Student A is worried because lately he/she is putting on weight. Ask him/her about
his/her eating patterns: how much quantity of food he/she eats, how much water he/she drinks. Offer him/her advice
and recommendation for a healthy lifestyle. Show him/her an example of how an ideal menu should be.
