Genesis:
Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the 23rd Pontiff of Sri Suttur
Veerasimhasana Math, Suttur, was the architect and founder of J.S.S. Mahavidyapeetha,
which came into being in 1954. JSS Mahavidyapeetha, is presently running more than 300
institutions starting from primary education to postgraduate and research programmes in
the fields of Medical Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Arts & Science, Law,
Management, etc., There are about 40,000 students enrolled in the various institutions of the
Vidyapeetha with more than 10,000 employees. The Vidyapeetha can easily be described
as one of the largest education providers as well as employer in the region.
To further strengthen its educational efforts JSS Mahavidyapeetha approached the

Government of India to provide Deemed to be University status to some of its pioneering
educational Institutions. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of
India in their Notification No.F.9-9/2003-U3, dated 28th May 2008 has declared Jagadguru
Sri Shivarathreeshwara University (JSSU), MYSURU, Karnataka, comprising

Mahavidyapeetha , it was recognized that we needed to have clear definable

Medical College, is located in a sprawling
43 acre campus in Sri
Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, MYSURU City, which is about 140 Km from Bangalore.

The city is famed for its educational institutions, salubrious climate and beautiful
gardens. The college which was started in 1984 has been designed and equipped
for dispensation of quality medical education. The institution is backed by highly
qualified and experienced staff, well equipped laboratories, library, and modern
teaching aids.
The college offers undergraduate course in medicine (MBBS) and postgraduate
degree (MD/MS) and Diploma programmes in 30 medical disciplines. The sanctioned
annual intake to the MBBS programme is 200.
The college is also conducting B.Sc.
courses in Respiratory Care Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Dialysis

Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, X-Ray Technology and M.Sc. in various
disciplines, M.Phil in Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric social work.
The courses
offered are a perfect blend of community oriented, problem based learning with
high quality clinical reasoning. The M.Sc / Ph.D programmes in subjects such as
Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Microbiology etc., have also
been started, to encourage research in these basic subjects.
The graduate and postgraduate programmes of the college are recognized by the
Medical Council of India.
The courses offered are also recognized by General
Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council and WHO. The college has been
recognized by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, UK for the award of
MRCOG. The college is also recognized by the Malaysia Medical Council.

The central library is spread over an area of 14,167 Sq. ft. JSS hospital has a separate
library of its own.
The library is equipped with medical and allied Text books,
reference books, encyclopedia, dictionaries, Technical reports, monographs, thesis

and dissertation works, foreign and Indian medical journals of repute, as well as
general reading material. The library also has an impressive collection of CD ROMs
and databases. A digital library with internet workstations is established.
Research :Library & : Information Center:

Research is being carried out in all departments, both in the clinical and basic
sciences, under national and international funded projects. The staff and students
are actively involved in clinical and research activities, including publication of
papers in reputed professional journals. Depression brain bank, a unique project, has
already started functioning. JSS body donation Association registers and receives
donations of bodies.

JSS Hospital is a 1800 bedded teaching and service oriented hospital, attached to
JSS Medical College.
It is one of the renowned high tech tertiary care referral
hospitals in South India and has to its credit several super specialties and latest
equipment. This hospital has additional supporting paramedical training facilities in
the form of College of Nursing, College of Physiotherapy and School of Nursing.
Quality health care is given free of cost for the poorer section of society.
The hospital has 18 departments in various specialties.
Since this is a teaching
hospital, it provides services to patients through highly qualified doctors specialized in

various fields. There are 14 major operation theatres in addition to 4 minor operation
theatres, well equipped with modern and sophisticated equipments, besides
Intensive Care Units, such as N.I.C.U., Intensive Cardiac Care Unit services.
The
Hospital has its own Oxygen Plant with pipe line connections to O.T., various wards
and departments to supply Oxygen to patients. The hospital also has round the
clock emergency services.
The
hospital
offers
specialized
services
in
endoscopy,
video
endoscopy,
computerized tread mill, endoscopic procedures in urology, cell count tests,

nephrology services with haemo-dialysis, diabetic clinic, neuro surgery and ultra
sound. It also caters to psychiatric services, It also provides specialized services for
cancer therapy at the Cancer Hospital, Mysuru. The Nephro-Urology department is
doing Kidney transplants regularly. In addition, there is an established Artificial Limb
Centre to assist physically handicapped persons, amputees, etc. The Hospital has
also fully equipped laboratories for conducting various Microbiology, Pathology,
Biochemistry, Radiology and Medical Imaging tests and is also equipped with a
blood bank. The hospital has installed a whole body C.T. Scan and MRI.
The drug centre in hospital premises works round the clock and supplies drugs to
patients at rates cheaper than those in the market.
It will be seen from the above particulars that the JSS Hospital is one of the biggest
hospitals in MYSURU city and it has all the required facilities and infrastructure in the
various departments and is fully equipped to render specialized medical treatment
and diagnostic procedures.

Admissions Procedure MBBS Course:

THE PROCESS INVOLVES THE FOLLOWING STAGES:
1. Submission of the application form with COMED-K UGET - 2015 Test Score and Rank
by post or in person along with Photographs and other enclosures on or before
06.07.2015 at 5.00 pm.
2. The
application
downloaded
from the Website
of
the
University should
be
accompanied by a DD for Rs. 2,000/- drawn in favour of JSS UNIVERSITY FEE ACCOUNT
payable at MYSURU.
3. Announcement of the JSS University UG Medical (MBBS) rank list will be done on
13.07.2015
4. The counseling will be held at JSS University, MYSURU for UG Medical (MBBS) course on
23.07.2015 and 24.07.2015 .The counseling process will be announced on the website
www.jssuni.edu.in.
Instructions to the candidate:

INTRODUCTION:
a) Students will be admitted to UG Medical (MBBS) course in the constituent college of
JSS University, JSS Medical College, MYSURU, on the basis of the rank list prepared
by the University from the test scores / rank obtained by them in the COMED-K
UGET - 2015 entrance Test.
15% of total seats are reserved for NRI / Foreign National/ PIO.
5% of the seats are reserved for Institutional preference.
b) Decision of the authorities of JSS University in case of disputes will be final.

Qualifications:
Requisite Qualification for admission to MBBS Course:

1) The candidate seeking admission to UG Medical (MBBS) courses should
have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination 10+2 / PUC II /
HSC or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE) or any other
examination equivalent to 10+2/ HSC examination of any recognized
Board / University from any School / Colleges in India / Abroad after 12
years of study. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics,
Chemistry & Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject. Those
who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination earlier than
March / April 2013 are not eligible to apply.
2) The General Merit Candidate should have passed in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained at least
50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together and should have
also passed in English language in the qualifying examinations i.e. PUC II /
10+2 / HSC or equivalent.
As per the Medical Council of India (MCI)
norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and
must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB,
Further they must secure not less than 50% marks in PCB in the Common
Entrance Test (COMED - K - UGET-2015).
3) The SC, ST
and OBC Candidate should have passed in the subjects
Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained
at least 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together and
should have
also passed
in English language
in
the
qualifying
examinations i.e. PUC II / 10+2 / HSC or equivalent. As per the Medical

Council of India (MCI) norms the candidates must have passed these
subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks

taken together in PCB, further they must secure not less than 40% marks in
PCB in the Common Entrance Test (COMED - K - UGET-2015).
4) Age: The candidate should complete 17 years of age on or before
31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS course. (31.12. 2015)
Application Procedure:
A candidate desirous of admission to Undergraduate Medical (MBBS) Programmes is
required to complete the prescribed application form and submit to the University in the
following ways:
A candidate is required to download the prescribed application form from the University
website: www.jssuni.edu.in
and submit the completed form to the University on or
before the scheduled date (A copy of the application form is given at ANNEXURE I).
The downloaded and printed application form should be sent along with COMED - K UGET-2015 test score and rank and processing fee of Rs. 2,000/- only by way of DD
favouring JSS UNIVERSITY FEE ACCOUNT, MYSURU, payable at MYSURU along with the
documents listed below. *
Candidates may also obtain the application form along with the Brochure by sending a
application fee of Rs. 200/- only by way of DD favouring JSS UNIVERSITY FEE ACCOUNT,
MYSURU , payable at MYSURU. The duly filled application form should be sent to the
University along with documents listed below enclosing DD for Rs. 2,000/- favouring
JSS UNIVERSITY FEE ACCOUNT, MYSURU, payable at MYSURU.
ENCLOSURES WITH APPLICATION:

* Attested copies of the following documents have to be enclosed along with
the application form and kindly arrange the documents in the following order.
1. COMED K - UGET - 2015 Score
2. COMED K - UGET - 2015 Rank card
3. COMED K - UGET - 2015 Test Admission Ticket (TAT)
4. S.S.L.C./Equivalent examination marks card.
5. 10+ 2 mark sheet / II P.U.C./Equivalent examination marks card.

11. Migration Certificate issued by the Board /University in case of candidates other than
Karnataka State education board.
12. Six recent, identical passport-size colour photographs with name and date.( In
addition one copy of the photo should be pasted on the application form in the

13. Self addressed 3 nos. envelops. ( Size = 10.5 X 4.5 OR 9.5 X 4.5)
14. Foreign Nationals seeking admission should obtain eligibility certificate issued by JSS
University, MYSURU.
15. Processing fee of Rs. 2,000/- only by way of DD favouring JSS UNIVERSITY FEE
ACCOUNT, MYSURU, payable at MYSURU. The candidate should write name ,
address and Application for admission to MBBS courses on the back side of the
Demand Draft.
INSTRUCTION FOR PHOTOGRAPHS:

1. The recent passport size photographs provided have to be identical
2. Six identical recent (taken within one month), coloured matt finish, passport
size Photographs, with light background are required. Polaroid photographs
are NOT acceptable.
3. Kindly stick your photo in the space provided.
4. The application form with smudged / tampered / hazy photograph or
photograph older than one month will be rejected.
5. An additional copy of your recent passport-size colour photograph with
applicants name written on the back of the photograph.

6. Any application received not adhering to these specifications will be rejected

without any clarifications and no refund will be made. The decision of the JSS
University on this would be final and binding.

An incomplete application form & an application form which is not accompanied by

a demand draft of the prescribed application fee of Rs. 2,000/- will not be
entertained & processed. This fee should not be sent by money order. Please note
that this fee is NON-REFUNDABLE, even if the application is rejected because of
incomplete application or ineligibility of the candidate.
This University will not be responsible for any delay or loss of the Application /
Counseling call Letter/ any other communication in transit. Such a delay will not be
condoned.
The applicant himself has to ascertain from the University office whether his
application has reached the university office or not.
The application form along with documents (Photocopy only) should be sent in A4
size envelope only.
Candidates must ensure that the application form is filled up properly and
completely.
Please adhere to the time schedule enlisted in the calendar of events.
Incomplete / incorrect applications are liable to be rejected without prior

information to the candidate.
Multiple application forms received from the same candidate will result in confusion
and may result in disqualification.
Demand Drafts in excess of the prescribed fee (Rs.2000/-) if sent by the candidate
will not be refunded.
JSS UNIVERSITY is not responsible for any error the candidate makes while filling up
the Application Form.
JSS University will not entertain any changes in the application form after submission
and no refund will be made.
JSS University is not responsible for any loss / delay / damage which might occur
during Postal or Courier delivery.
Any application received after the last date will be rejected.
Avoid stapling of Demand Draft and additional photograph to the application form.
Instead use clips.

The Application form should be submitted as Downloaded Hard copy only.
Candidates are advised to fill the application form carefully
ALL THE ENTRIES IN THE FORM SHOULD BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS ONLY.
Name mentioned in the form by the candidate should be the same as in the
documents of 10th / SSLC / HSC examination. Please leave one blank space
between adjacent words. For example, the name SRI

If the date or month of birth is a single digit, it should be prefixed with a zero. For

Note:
Declaration once made in the application with regard to the
category status like SC, ST, OBC, Minority etc., will not be changed
subsequently either prior to test or counseling. Hence candidates are
cautioned to fill in with great care about the category status.
The declaration in the application form is to be signed both by the applicant and
the parent/guardian of the applicant, on the downloaded printed copy of the
Application Form.
Address should be entered in capital letters. Use, / wherever required as shown

in the example. If the address is B1, SECOND FLOOR, SUN CITY
APPARTMENT, it
should be written as: B/1, S E C O N D F L O O R, S U N C I T Y A P P A R T M E N T.

The candidate and the candidates parent / guardian must both sign the
declaration in the spaces provided for the same in the application form. The Date
and Place must also be filled up in the application form. Any application form
without the signature of the candidate and signature of the parent/guardian is
liable to be rejected, without further correspondence.
Filled application form must be sent to the University address by registered post/
speed post / courier, along with relevant documents.
DD of Nationalized Bank for Rs. 2000/- drawn in favour of JSS UNIVERSITY FEE
ACCOUNT, MYSURU, payable at MYSURU.
MERIT LIST :
The University will prepare a merit list amongst the candidates who have
applied for admission to Undergraduate Medical (MBBS) Course at the
constituent institutions of the University, with COMED-K UGET 2015 test score
and rank obtained by them in the COMED K UGET 2015 test.
The candidates will be called for counseling as per their ranking in this list.
Copy of merit list will be displayed at the office of JSS University in MYSURU
and also on Website of the University, as per schedule.
ISSUE OF COUNSELING CALL LETTER
The counseling schedule and counseling Call letter will be announced on

University website www.jssuni.edu.in. (Dates will be announced in the
website). No separate counseling call letter will be sent to the candidate.
Candidates are required to download the counseling call letter and attend
the counseling as per schedule announced in the website.

COUNSELLING & ON-THE-SPOT-ADMISSION SESSION:
The counseling sessions will be conducted at JSS University, JSS Medical Institutions
Campus, Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagar, MYSURU 570 015, Karnataka.
Open
counseling shall be conducted in a transparent way in the auditorium after

scrutinizing all the Original documents and also making use of Biometric
verification and Photo-identification of the candidates. The date will be
displayed on the University Website later. FAILURE TO REPORT FOR COUNSELING ON
THE SCHEDULED DATE AND TIME WILL RESULT IN INSTANTANEOUS CANCELLATION OF
CLAIM OF THE CANDIDATE TO THE SEAT;
It shall be candidates responsibility to
see the JSS University Medical (MBBS) merit list on scheduled date announced
in the University website.
The candidates in the merit list prepared by JSS University, MYSURU, on the basis of
marks and rank obtained by them in COMED K UGET 2015, will be called as per
their ranks for counseling and offered on-the-spot admission to the course.
Successful candidates will be allotted seats according to their rank and

number of seats available.
The candidate should remain present for the counseling and for on-the-spotadmission, as per the schedule displayed on Website, even though he / she fails to
receive any information letter, for any reason from the University.
To ensure fairness to the merited students and eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is

planned to use biometric (finger print) identification at various stages of counseling
and admission process and this would be done at the discretion of the University.
Only the candidate and one of his parents / guardian will be allowed into the hall
where counseling is held. The candidates will be called in the order of their ranking
in the merit list and offered the seats to the MBBS course available at that point of
time. The candidate will be allowed to choose admission to the course if a seat is
available when his / her turn comes.
At the time of reporting for the counseling, the candidate is required to produce the
documents (original and three sets of photocopies) list mentioned above and
annexure.
If the candidate is admitted to the course, these documents will be
retained by the University till he / she completes the course. If the candidate fails to

produce all or any of the documents listed mentioned above he / she will
instantaneously forfeit his / her claim for a seat.
NOTE: Once admission is confirmed, original documents submitted to the

University will not be returned back to the candidate under any
circumstances.
If a candidate wants to take back his/her original certificates after he/she is allotted
a seat in the counseling, he/she may do so after submitting an undertaking stating
that he/she will resubmit the same on said date by the counseling committee, failing
which his/her allotted seat will be cancelled and the resulting vacancy will be
declared for allotment in the next round of counseling.
The selected candidate will be required to pay the entire amount of annual fee on
the day of counseling itself. (Through Bank Draft drawn in the name of for The
Principal, JSS Medical College, MYSURU, payable at MYSURU.
Differences of opinion and disputes arising in the interpretation and

implementation of the clauses in the brochure, if any, will be referred to the
Vice-Chancellor, JSS University, MYSURU, and his decision shall be final and
binding on all concerned.
The JSS University website: www.jssuni.edu.in is updated regularly. The JSS University
suggests all candidates to visit it frequently for relevant information.
WAIT LIST
When all the seats in a given course/s are filled, candidates may choose to
be waitlisted. There is no ranking in the waitlist.
Candidates, who opt only to be waitlisted, need not pay any fee until they
receive the selection intimation from the University that they have been
selected for admission from the waiting list as a consequence of withdrawal
or cancellation of admission of any originally admitted candidate.

BIOMETRIC VERIFICATION:
The biometric verification will be done during counseling for seat selection and at
the college level, during the admission process.
To ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is

planned to use Biometric (Fingerprinting) at various stages of the process and this
would be done at the discretion of JSS University.
Any mismatch at any stage will automatically result in disqualification of the

candidate and he/she will not be permitted to participate in any further process of
seat selection and admission to undergraduate MBBS course. Further, impostors are
liable for criminal prosecution.
ASSISTANCE / FACILITIES TO CANDIDATES:

In order to provide timely information to the candidates about their applications / results /
Counseling thereof, JSS University has made the following arrangements:
The Help desk telephone number is 0821-2548400/416. The Help desk is operational
from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on
Saturdays. The Help desk is not operational on Sundays and other public holidays.
Candidates can send their queries to the Help desk at dr_acad@jssuni.edu.in /

admissions@jssuni.edu.in or can fax the same to 0821-2548394.
JSS University has set up a website: www.jssuni.eu.in to facilitate information

dissemination among the candidates.
No personal Queries will be entertained. The communication can be made

only through Phone, Fax or Email.

BAN OF RAGGING:
Ragging is a criminal offence as per Karnataka Educational Act 1983 and Honble
Supreme Court of India. JSS University ensures strict compliance on the prevention of
Ragging in any form.
Definition:
Ragging means causing, inducing, compelling or forcing a student, whether by

way of a practical joke or otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human
dignity or violates his person or exposes him to ridicule or to forbear from doing any
lawful act, by intimidating, wrongfully restraining, wrongfully confining or injuring him
or by using criminal force to him or by holding out to him any threat of such
intimidation, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, injury or the use of criminal
force. Supreme Court of India has defined ragging as a criminal offence.
Penalty for Ragging:
No person who is a student of an educational institution shall commit ragging.

Supreme Court of India has ordered that if any incident of ragging comes to the
notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if
his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from
the institution.
Warning:
No leniency will be shown to the offenders involved in ragging. All students are
requested to note and co-operate in keeping our university and its constituent
colleges free from ragging.

In case any candidate is found to be involved in or indulging in

impersonation or any other unfair means or cheating to procure admission,
JSS University reserves the right to cancel the allotted seat and forfeit of the
entire amount of fees paid by such candidate. Such candidates are liable for
prosecution as per the law of the land.
Any legal dispute in the admission process of UG Medical (MBBS) courses through
COMED K UGET - 2015 entrance Test and counseling by JSS University, MYSURU-15,
matter is subject to the jurisdiction of the civil court in MYSURU.
