summit
preface
Welcome to SoPlace 2.0, the world's congregation for sense of place mainstream, with world renowned speakers, diverse delegates, international media,
exhibitors, and visitors across the world.
The atmosphere will be energizing , challenging, and inspiring.
The SoPlace 2.0 theme Mainstreaming Sense of Place in the Urban Century
advocates that the globalized emergent urbanism is an opportunity of our
lifetime to reimagine our built and natural environment.
The Summit will explore how places can build resilience and improve quality
of life by adopting sustainable sense of place to increasingly complex urban
challenges. SoPlace is a new age platform brought to you for mainstream
impact which will provide perspective exchanges; the sharing of best
practices and innovative solutions; presentations for ground-breaking ideas;
the making, management and marketing of places in attracting and retaining
talent, citizens, investors, and tourists.
SoPlace provides opportunities for incubating and networking to enact
new ideas, innovation, and sustainable socio-economic reform. The Urban
Century demands and expectations placed on tomorrow's sense of place are
unprecedented. In the developed world, urban-dwellers must find ways to deal
with rapid development, chronic inner-city poverty and homelessness, massive
over-consumption of energy and non-stop suburban sprawl. Upcoming megacities in Asia, Africa and South America face the immense challenges of poverty,
burgeoning populations, vast slums, housing demolitions and natural disasters.
