Cost-Effective, Compact and Dependable:
SFC9000 series static GPUs provide the most cost-effective and flexible way of providing 28VDC allweather ground power for helicopters, military jets and civil aircraft. By
using an advanced high frequency rectifier design, SFC9000 models
offer a remarkably compact, quiet and robust converter, able to operate
reliably even in the most arduous conditions, from the heat of the desert
to the rain of the tropics.
Durable, Dependable Package:
The advanced high frequency rectifier/converter is housed within a steel
enclosure that has been zinc-plated and then painted. An integral cable
tray is fitted to the larger models, which may be ordered as a hand-pull

cart* or on a stationary plinth. SFC9000 units do not use internal batteries to bolster their output for engine start - they are completely solidstate electronics, with no troublesome consumables.
Simplicity in Operation:
Clear and simple control panel
Two button operation and large, clear analogue meters mean minimal
Operator training. A front panel knob allows the output voltage to be User adjusted from 26 to 32VDC. An
emergency stop is also fitted.
Large Overload capability:
The two larger SFC9000 models (9400 & 9600) have very
large overload capabilities for engine start. The 600 Amp
unit will provide 2000 Amps, the 400 Amp unit 1500
Amps. SFC9000 GPUs do not use batteries to aid engine
start, as they are able to provide the necessary power
without battery assistance. Therefore there are no batteries to maintain, or the extra weight to deal with.

The
0A smaller models (9100 & 9200) are mounted on light
&
weight
trolleys and are designed for aircraft run and

maintenance, without engine start.

Quiet Operation:
With an acoustic output of less than 50dBA (@ 1m), the SFC9000 series may
be used in maintenance workshops and hangars without the tiring noise often
associated with GPUs.

SFC 9100 & 9200 Permanent Installation:
The 9100 and 9200 bulk-head GPUs may be permanently installed on a wall or a post, either inside a hangar
or outside near the aircraft. Both models are fully weather-proof, with
closed welded seams, double gaskets and integral anti-condensation
heaters. They have an extremely low radiated noise spectrum, allowing
them to be used close to even military aircraft without risk of interference.
The SFC 9100 model (100A) uses a single phase input supply (either
230V 50Hz or 115V 60Hz), while the SFC 9200 (200A) may be ordered
with either a single or three phase input supply.
Both the SFC 9400 (400A) and the SFC 9600 (600A) are available with
only a three phase input supply.

A permanently mounted 9200

Variable Output Voltage:

The two smaller models have a fixed 28.5VDC output. This is not
normally User variable.

The two larger models however, have a knob on the front panel that allows the output voltage to be
continuously varied from 26 to 32VDC.

Aircraft Interlocks:
An optional aircraft interlock may be fitted, with manual override. On standard units the third pin of the
aircraft connector is linked to the positive output rail.
Cables:
Larger models are supplied as standard with a 10 metre 5-core input
cable (fitted EN60309-2 red connector) and a 10 metre output cable
fitted with a standard 3-pin aircraft connector. Longer cables are optional. The low profile cart puts the cable tray at a much more convenient
height for storing the heavy aircraft cable.
Combo Models:
In addition to our 28VDC GPUs, Failsafe also manufacture Combo
models. These have a
400Hz, AC output in addition to the 28VDC output.
For maintenance departments or airlines that operA Military SFC9600 on a hand-pull trailer
ate a range of aircraft these
represent a very cost-effective and flexible solution.
It is important to note that Failsafe Combo models are able to
supply 28VDC and 400Hz at the same time. This is not normally
the case with dual output GPUs.
Full Trailers:
For applications where the GPU needs to be moved greater
distances, perhaps between aircraft, the SFC 9400 and 9600
are available on full trailers, with pneumatic tyres, tow-bar and
braking system. An integral cable tray is provided on top and an
extra cable rack at the rear. Please contact us for further details.
Input Options:
All three-phase models are optionally available with either a
400V/50Hz input or a 440V/60Hz input. Additionally 220V(3phase)/60Hz is available to special order.
