Jacob Lines Grid Station

Visited Jacob Lines G/S and carried out hazard identification in 11 kV and 132 kV yards.
Registered entry in security book and control room log book. First got information about
emergency exits and assembly point. A few trench covers were found missing in 11kV yard
but temporary arrangement has been made. In 132kV yard, Wall of a room was found
dangerously cracked; this is a serious safety hazard as the scrap location is right beside the
cracked wall. Some transformer control cable trenches were also uncovered.
A major issue that I observed was the concrete base of red phase cable riser of Trafo # 1 is
cracked. As the load on this cable termination is severe therefore it is a major safety hazard.

Baloch Colony Grid Station

Next visited Baloch G/S and repeated the same procedure. Then observed safety hazards. In
11kV yard, few trench covers were missing. In 132kV yard, Almost all of the control cable
trench covers are unavailable. This is a serious safety hazard to the control cables as well
because they are prone to damage. Power cable trench broken and also covers were also
missing at some points. In 132kV yard some fire hazards were present; an empty cable drum
and dry bushes.

Gulistan-e-Johar Grid Station

Next visited Johar G/S and repeated the same entry procedure. Then visited the whole grid
station. Trench covers were missing in 11kV yard. Then arranged forced shutdown of Trafo #
1 for rack-out issue of switch # 1. Made entry in log book for shutdown and tool box talk by
supervisor. After arranging of shutdown by SBO, locked the 132kV isolator and racked out
the incoming switch # 6. Then opened front plate of switch # 1 and manually racked out the
switch. Hazard was identified as charged spring mechanism, it was discharged. Mr. Qaiser
suggested as a safe method it was safer to discharge the spring after closing the front plate.
Then opened the back plate of the incoming switch # 6 and gang incharge discharged busbar
and cable. Then racked in the incoming trolley. After that gave clearance of the shutdown.
