Prepare a SWOT analysis report for ATLAM as the assessment of a

business in-house strengths and weaknesses and its surroundings
opportunities and threats.

STRENGTHS

1) ATLAM is PETRA subsidiary. Currently PETRA are using SAP system for their
accounting entries. ATLAM has to link its system to PETRAS to match with
the group reporting structure. Whatever it is ATLAM need to follow PETRA
accounting system.
2) Since ATLAM have the working capital saving more than its coast they
should change the new accounting system to SAP because it can covered
all the costs are incurred.
3) Cost centres could be maintained separately allowing for complex
segmental reporting such as variance analysis.
4) SAP put ATLAM in strong position to leverage future technological
improvements and it process innovations
5) Sap for better integrate ATLAM operation data and access the data
quicker. That is for the sake of decision making
6) Implementing SAP will allow ATLAM to save more on in term of increasing
effectiveness and efficacy of accounts and report preparation

WEAKNESSES

1) Cost to implement SAP system in more expensive ( installation, cost of

training, need to buy new pc

2) SAP system, there is extreme factors will faced such as low of fund, lack of expertise,
and short of facilities.
3) ATLAM had a poor IT infrastructure compared to Europe and Japan.
This is because ATLAM was relied on a customized single-user
system which was solely for accounting entries, and it is not
functioned to generate financial reports.
4) They are not enough Personal Computers in the departments to make this practical to
them. Then they do not even have the space available to house the system, some of
the employee in ATLAM have never used a Personal Computer before and lack of the
knowledge about information technology.

OPPORTUNITY

1) Even though its takes a number of months but by using SAP it can
increase effectiveness and efficiency of accounts and report
preparation.

2) SAP reduce lack of integration.

3) Improve financial management and corporate governance.
4) SAP can provide benefit for ATLAM such improvement of employee morale,
broader societal implication, promote of ATLAM learning and understanding and
more timely information.

THREATEN
1) ATLAM staff not ready regarding the changes of work process, culture and
habit.
2) Problem in dealing with centralized data in the massive volumes of data
are likely to lead to traffic jams with the thousands user of system at the
same time.
3) ATLAMs employees are fear of loss of the power to control the system
operating and their old job also will be separately divided to each others.
They are worried that may change their role and responsibilities.

4) SAP system, it is large project for ATLAM. As the large the project is, there will be a
high risk on the project. The project will have an impact for ATLAM when
implementing it. As the project is large and left limited time which is around 7 weeks
for the project team member to manage it, it will have high stress on it.
