Dear fellow Jaycees, Friends, Family and Distinguished Guests,

Welcome to our 45th Annual Installation of 2008 Officers Ceremony! It is a

great time-honored tradition that our Philippine New York Jaycees chapter has
continued to hold. This evening’s festivities will commemorate the momentous
occasion of the formal Induction of the incoming 2008 Jaycees Officers of this
organization.

As the outgoing Chapter President, it has been my honor and distinct privilege
to have proudly served you as this organization’s 44th Chapter President of
the Philippine New York Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Inc. during the past year of
2007. The year was definitely filled with many memorable occasions. With the
chapter theme of 2007 as “Driven to Excellence”, which symbolizes the natural
drive of our Jaycee members, I believe that our chapter achieved excellence in
so many ways, not only within the Jaycees community, through the many State
awards won by our members and by our chapter, but to the whole New York
City community-at-large, especially the Filipino-American community, as
evidenced by the numerous successful projects and events that were
sponsored by our Jaycees organization in the past year of 2007.

Now in its 45th year of existence, the incoming 2008 Team of Officers, led by
President Victor De Leon, will look to continue the long, rich history and
tradition of excellence that has been exemplified by the members of our
historic Jaycees chapter. Originally chartered in 1963, our Philippine New York
Jaycees organization immediately made history by becoming the first ethnic-
based local Jaycees chapter in the world. Now that is history-making.

But before signing off, I would like to thank the entire 2007 Team of Officers
and members for their hard work and dedication. And to everyone, Jaycees
and friends of Jaycees, thank you for coming to our Ceremonies this evening.
But most of all, I would like to thank everyone with deep gratitude for
supporting the Philippine New York Jaycees and the Jaycee movement! May
we all continue to be Driven to Excellence!

Yours in Jaycee and Friendship,

Gary Abasolo

Greetings, fellow Jaycees; Family; Friends; and Distinguished Guests!

Welcome to the 45th Induction of Chapter Officers of The Philippine-New York

Junior Chamber! It is with great honor and privilege that I am able to partake in this
momentous occasion with all of you.

Throughout 2008, we celebrate an organization that is renowned for its legacy of

excellence over the last 45 years. More so, we gather this evening to recognize the
men and women who have risen to the challenge of training the youth of today and,
subsequently, shaping them into motivated individuals who will lead their respective
communities and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a more global
scale.

The officers of the 2008 Board of Directors, who will be inducted tonight, very likely,
are people that are special and close to you, that you hold dear to your heart; we
may know them as a brother, sister, spouse, colleague, or friend. Yet they, also, are
unique in that they have been inspired to serve, by those who have built and
strengthened the foundation of this organization. By taking on this mantle of
leadership, by applying the skills and information they have learned in molding
themselves into leaders in their own right, they are helping to design a better
tomorrow for generations to come.

To all of you, our beloved guests, we appreciate you spending time with us, The
Philippine-New York Junior Chamber, to celebrate an annual rite and long-standing
tradition! Thank you for supporting the Chapter; we encourage you to continue
doing so by spreading the word, as well as joining us in our various events and
activities--The Philippine Independence Day Parade & Festival; membership-night
socials; individual-development seminars; our 45th Anniversary Gala; and the ING
New York City Marathon(Water Station), to name just a few!

To you, my fellow officers: I am proud of all of you--dedicated, hard-working

teammates who, not only, share a common vision and purpose for the young
people of the world but, also, for the betterment of each other. When all of us work
together, we can accomplish so much--THANK YOU!

MABUHAY, TEAM 2008 and The Philippine-New York Junior Chamber!!!

April 19, 2008

Dear Fellow Jaycees,

Greetings to everyone on behalf of the Chapter Senators, Ambassadors and Governors.

Welcome to the 45th Installation of Officers of the Philippine New York Junior Chamber.

For many people in the community, the Jaycees represents a group of motivated young people
who have provided strong leadership in community projects. Through the years, we have
contributed to the development of other Jaycee chapters and as well as provide support in the
creation of a young professionals organization, we helped to improve the image of the Filipino
Americans through our assistance in the annual Philippine Independence Day celebration, and
we have become leaders in various community organizations throughout the Tri-State area.
Today, many of our Jaycee alumnus have spread their wings to include providing leadership
and assistance in nation building through programs such as Gawad Kalinga.

The Philippine New York Junior Chamber provides opportunities both locally and globally for the
individual persons to develop themselves. What other leadership organization can boost of an
international presence and still provide the cohesiveness of a small organization? Since joining
the organization in 1992 and witnessing the 30th Anniversary Celebration, I am always amazed
at the enthusiasm, the drive, and camaraderie that Jaycee members possess. The Jaycees of
today are no different. Though times have changed, few things remains the same since that
day that I joined in April 1992…it is the commitment, the desire, hopes and aspiration of our
members that provides each us the reason for being a part of this organization. Whether we
become members for one year or ten years or even sixteen years, we all can contribute to our
chapter’s success and our individual success.

This year as chair for our 45th Anniversary celebration slated in the Fall of 2008, I wish to
extend an invitation to all Jaycee members, past and present, to come back and rekindle
friendships, share stories of your fondest Jaycee experiences and share the rich history that we
have to the newer members. Share with them the lessons of leadership, teamwork, good
planning and appreciation of the efforts given – no matter how small.

To our 2008 Chapter officers, I wish you all well in your leadership journey this year. There will
be many challenges but it is how you overcome these challenges to reach your goal that makes
success all that much sweeter.

To our current and newest members, you have the opportunity to define what you want to do
this year. Let your voice be heard and share your expertise. Seek to learn something new and
propose an idea that has never been done before. Make this year truly special by taking the
time to contribute and participate.

To our guests, thank you for your continued support of the chapter. It is through partnerships,
collaborative efforts and support from our family and friends that allows us to keep motivated to
make our ideas a successful reality.

Mabuhay ang Philippine New York Junior Chamber. Mabuhay tayong lahat.

In Jaycee Spirit and Friendship,

10 LEADERSHIP THROUGH INTEGRITY

The Philippine-New York Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Inc.

Mission
The Mission of the Philippine New York Junior Chamber(Jaycees), Inc., as part of
the world’s largest leadership training organization, JCI, is to train and develop
young adults into becoming leaders, entrepreneurs and socially responsible
individuals who will create positive changes in society, affecting both the local
community of the New York City metropolitan area and the global community as a
whole.

Vision
The Philippine-New York Junior Chamber will continue to be a premier leadership
training organization, in which individuals will have an opportunity to acquire the
skills necessary to be leaders by taking action and initiative through a hands-on
approach, and in serving our various communities. Using the network of support
from the various JCI organizations throughout the world, as well as from within the
Chapter itself, these young people will be driven and motivated to continue the
history and legacy of excellence of the Jaycee movement and, subsequently,
inspire others to become leaders in their own right.

Specific Goals for the Year

1. Inspire and encourage members.
2. Better teamwork.
3. Integrity.
4. Continue tradition of excellence.
5. Member focus --> active members; training.
6. Support fellow officers.
7. Financial/moral accountability.
8. Corporate presence(sponsorships).

Chapter Theme: “Leadership Through Integrity”

Integrity is about being responsible and accountable for one’s actions. When
goals are set, there must be commitment towards the realization of those goals,
and action must be taken in order to achieve them. When there is unity and
commitment in achieving a desired result, there is a clearer and less obstructed
path to that end. By setting this guideline as a constant standard to follow, others
will be inspired to do the same.

in the Membership Services area in the entire state. In the process of winning the NewYork State Jaycees

Last year in 2007, Gary became the 44th Chapter President of this storied organization, with the 2007 chapter

not only in lawyers organizations but is also quite active with several other young adult professional
organizations, including, Collaborative Opportunities for Raising Empowerment, commonly known as CORE
