Brief about University

Todays Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya is the dream come true of Bhagat Phool
Singh Ji, who established a Gurukul for girls at Khanpur Kalan in 1936. Even after the demise of
Bhagat Phool Singh, his equally dynamic daughter Subhashini Ji not only took control of
Gurukul but worked vigorously in expanding the Gurukul in terms of its various constituent
institutions like BPS Memorial Girls College (1967), BPS College of Education (1968), MSM
Ayurvedic College (1973), BPS Mahila Polytechnic (1984), TIG Bhainswal Kalan(1999) and
PSD Girls Law College (2003). The State Government took cognizance and upgraded the
erstwhile Gurukul to the status of a University exclusively for women in August 2006 and
christened it as Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, which happens to be the first State
Women University of North India. Since then BPSMV has undergone a complete transformation;
a 75 years old Gurukul started with only three girls has turned into a modern university with
approximately 7000 girls on its rolls studying in various programmes.
Milestones

The university is spread over lush green, pollution free 500 acres of networked & safe

campus, juxtaposing tradition with modernity.

The first State Women University of North India providing education from KG to PhD.

The university has established the Centre for Society- University Interface and Research
(CSUIR) which offers innovative programmes like Integrated Energy Resource
Management, Micro Finance Practices, and Folk Medicine etc.

BPSMV is the first and only Indian university to establish UGC Area Study Centre for
Indic-Asian Studies.

The University offers innovative, job oriented programmes in various disciplines.

The university has established state of the art Language Labs and Staff Training and
Research Institute for Teaching of English.

The university has signed MOUs with many foreign universities of repute.

Free placement and personality development assistance is provided to students.

The university organizes Women Youth Parliament to hone leadership skills of students.

ABOUT UPACC
University Placement and Counseling Cell (UPACC), was established in 2010 with the
objective to facilitate placement opportunities and counseling services to the University students.
In a very short span the cell has achieved collaboration with industrial and corporate sector and
has signed MOUs to provide training and placements to the students. UPACC has also organized
special training programs for the students to develop their personality and hone communication
skills through tie ups with many agencies. The cell also organizes counseling camps for the
students to address their psychological, educational and career related issues in order to increase
efficiency and output.
The Cell caters across all the departments like Engineering Sciences, Management and
commerce, Hospitality, Social Work to facilitate required training like summer placements,
internships and other possible mediums to the students.
The UPACC has recently organized INDUSTRY ACADEMIA CONCLAVE with the focus to
improve employability skills of the students. The conclave witnessed distinguished speakers
from across all the sectors to share their experiences to the students and academia from various
disciplines to respond to the pressing needs.
The cell also imparts training on Information Technology skills through involving training and
placement officers from all the departments and the also the student representatives. The cell has
also taken opportunities to enroll with Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in the program
called Spoken Tutorial to impart IT and FOSS skills.

VISION:
Preparing the students with relevant professional skills and guiding them towards a bright
future and career all around the world.

OBJECTIVE OF UPACC
Major objective of UPACC is to make students responsible for their career decision and
to provide educational and career counseling services that will help students develop

realistic career goal consistent with their interests and to assist them developing a
realistic awareness of career possibilities by providing the students with current career
information and resources.

Seeking final employment in industries/ institutions.
Talking to companies and convincing them to visit our campus for campus interviews.
Arranging for screening interviews conducted by various institutions/ Companies.
Finding suitable opportunities, if they exist in companies, on a frequent basis and placing

our students in various companies.

Co-ordinate for overall development of students like interviews techniques, personality

development and latest educational trends.

Planning to have constant tie up with experts for conducting guest lectures.
Providing guidance and assistance to the students.
