2400 1858: 5 pa. black, Type II, a fresh and fine mint example with large margins all round (Mi =

2401 5 pa. black, Type II, a fine unused vertical tête-bêche pair. Scarce and fine (Mi = € 700).
(Photo = 1 335) 5/IyK (*) 350 (€ 235 )
2402 80 pa. bright red on white wove paper, a fine mint example with large margins and some
original gum, slight ageing at top due to hinge, a minor trim at top would perhaps improve
otherwise fine appearance (Mi = € 600). (Photo = 1 335) 7ay * 200 (€ 135 )
2403
2403 1858 (Nov 1): 80 pa. red on white wove paper, four margined example neatly tied to 1858
cover from Roman to Galatz by "Roman / Moldova" datestamp (1/11) in blue-green ink
(Kiriac fig. 282) which has caused a minor indentation and trace of vertical crease - mentioned for
complete accuracy only - in the adhesive. The earliest recorded date of use corresponding
to the First Day of Issue of this stamp, mailed on a Saturday. It is interesting to note that the
stamp shows the break in outer frame line above second 'R' of 'Scrisorei' which augments
Fritz Heimbüchler's theory that the frame line was broken prior to the initial engraving. This
extraordinary cover, was found in a mixed lot recently consigned to Corinphila and thus has
never, as far as we aware been offered at auction. A major rarity of Romanian and world
classic philately. Certificate Heimbüchler. 7y 6 20'000 (€ 13'400 )
