BENEDICTION AND EVENING PRAYER

Opening Hymn
O Salutaris
O Saving Victim opening wide
The gates of heaven to man below!
Our foes press on from every side;
Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.
To Thy great name be endless praise
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days,
In our true native land with Thee. Amen

Romans

8:1-2,10-11

There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ

Jesus. For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has freed you
from the law of sin and death. If Christ is in you, although the body
is dead because of sin, the spirit is alive because of righteousness. If
the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,
the one who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal
bodies also, through his Spirit that dwells in you.

Christ, our frail humanity is prone to fall,
- strengthen us through your help. (R.)
Left to itself, our nature is inclined to sin,
- let your love always restore it to grace. (R.)
Lord, sin offends you, repentance pleases you,
- do not punish us in your wrath even when we have sinned. (R.)
You forgave the penitent woman and placed the wandering sheep on
your shoulders,
- do not deprive us of your mercy. (R.)
By your death on the cross, you opened the gates of heaven,
- admit into your kingdom all who hoped in you. (R.)
