Ukrainiantroopsinwhichatleast20Ukrainiansoldierswerekilled.
BritishForeignSecretaryHammondsaidtheceasefirehadbeen"systematicallybreached"
andhewoulddiscusswithKerryhowEuropeandtheUnitedStatescouldremainunitedin
tacklingthechallengeinUkraine.
U.S.PresidentBarackObama'sadministrationhaspreviouslysaiditisconsidering
deepeningsanctionsagainstMoscowandisalsoweighingthepossibilityofproviding
weaponstoUkraine'smilitary,althoughofficialsstressthepriorityistofindapolitical
solution.
WhileUkraineisexpectedtodominatethetalksinLondon,KerryandHammondsaidthey
wouldalsodiscussthethreatfromIslamistmilitantsinSyria,IraqandLibya.
HammondrepeatedBritain'sviewthataunitygovernmentwasurgentlyneededinLibya
"sothattheinternationalcommunitycanputitsweightbehindthatgovernmentinorderto
squeezetheterroristsout."
AU.S.officialsaidKerrywouldalsodiscussNigeria'supcomingelectionandtheIsraeli
Palestiniansituation.
TheSecretaryofStatetravelstoGenevaonSundayfortwodaysoftalkswithseniorIranian
officialsonTehran'sdisputednuclearprogramasthesidestrytoresolvedifferencesbefore
aMarch31deadlineforabasicframeworkagreement.
U.S.EnergySecretaryErnestMonizwillalsoattendthetalks,thefirsttimehehas
participatedintheIrannegotiations,theU.S.officialsaid.
