ASSUMPTIONS AND APPROACH

The assumptions made in the situations were:
1. That first the population increased in a day and then the rescues were made
2. The round trip times were halved to reach the time it would take to travel between two
cities
3. Requirement of every person that is 0.5 kg food,2 litres of water and 0.5 kg of
medicine were considered as 1 rescue package
Approach:
A table was prepared for air and road supply, with the supplying cities at the row header and
demanding cities at column header. Each column had 2 parts one being that of the number of
vehicles deployed and the other being the no of trips each vehicle makes.
The quantity which each vehicle can carry was given as
Vehicle Weight carrying capacity
Helicopters

Trucks

5000 (Kg)

10000 (Kg)

Hence using these data we were able to calculate the maximum amount of rescue packages
that we could have transported.
