Here's a smoothie for fit a workman-like knitted jerkin with that new extra-length appeal.
MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART SWEATER WOOL (1 oz. balls).
Size 127 balls.

Size 148 balls.

Size 169 balls.
Size 1810 balls.
Clark's O.N.T. Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 4 and 1 pair No. 6.

BACK With No. 4 needles cast on

Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1 inches. Inc 1 st on last row. Change to No. 6 needles and work as follows: 1st

Bind off 2 sts at armhole edge every other row twice. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row

At the Same Time

Dec 1 st at neck edge every 3rd row
There remain on needle
Work straight until piece measures from 1st row of armhole shaping
Bind off.
Attach yarn at opposite side of neck shaping and work other side to cor-respond.

FRONT NECKBAND With right side facing using No. 4 needles, pick up along neck edge from left shoulder
to center front
Insert a marker on needle, pick up the same number of sts from center front to right shoulder. There are on
needle

Now work as follows: 1st row: P 2, * k 2, p 2. Repeat from * to marker, slip marker, p 2, ** k 2, p 2. Repeat from
** across remaining sts. 2nd row: Work in ribbing to within 2 sts from marker, then k 2 tog, slip marker, sl 1, k 1,
p.s.s.o., and continue in ribbing across. 3rd row: Work in ribbing to 1 st before marker, p 1, sl marker, p 1, and
work in ribbing to end of row. Repeat the last 2 rows once more. Bind off in rib-bing decreasing before and after
marker as before.
BACK NECKBAND With right side facing using No. 4 needles, pick up along back neck edge between
markers
Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 5 rows. Bind off in ribbing. Sew shoulder seams.
ARMBANDS With No. 4 needles and right side facing, pick up along armhole edge
Work as for Back Neckband.

Block to measurements given. Sew underarm seams.
