FUNCTIONAL HEALTH PATTERN

HEALTH PERCEPTION-HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Patient x has no health problems aside from his gouty arthritis. His health was in good condition
until he was 24 years old on which he felt some signs and symptoms of arthritis such as swollen
and pain joints. The said joint disease was rooted from his grandfather. After he was diagnosed
with arthritis, patient x did not make a way in order for him to avoid or control the occurrence of
arthritis. Instead, he drinks liquor, smoke and even eat such food that are high in uric acid.
According to him, he did all those things because he doesnt know what the impact of it to him
and since he was still young at that time.
NUTRITIONAL METABOLIC PATTERN
Knowing how hard it is to face gout attacks, patience x is really observing his diet. He only
He usually eats rice with vegetable particularly squash in his breakfast. While in his lunch
and dinner are meals with sabaw like tinola except for oily foods. During snack time,
he usually eats sweet foods like chocolates because that was the advice of the doctor to
him. He doesnt take any vitamins and have no allergies of any food but often suffer
itchyness at night.

Street food is restricted to him.
He gained weight when he got sick.
ELIMINATION PATTERN
His bowel elimination is once a day, specifically every morning and urinates about 6
times a day or more because of the prescribed medicines which causes urination to flush
uric acid in his body.
ACTIVITY-EXERCISE PATTERN
At present, he regularly exercises by jogging or walking.
SLEEP-REST PATTERN

He sleeps 12 hours a day (8pm-8am) when he was diagnosed with hepatitis A. But at
present he sleeps for about 8 hours. He does light work only in their house like feeding
their carabao. He had sleep problems due to itchyness of his body at night which makes
him uncomfortable.

COGNITIVE-PERCEPTUAL PATTERN
Patient X does not have any hearing and vision difficulty and even physical deformities.
He is always active in class especially if he focuses and listens to his teacher. Due to this
reason, he was selected as a leader of their organization. In addition hes a sharp minded
student also.
SELF PERCEPTION-SELF CONCEPTION PATTERN
He believes that he has a strong body even he acquired the disease. His work in their
house and school was limited because of the disease but this didnt bother him. He just
ignored what other people thinks of him and often not to entertain it.
ROLES-RELATIONSHIP PATTERN
He is currently living at their house at Naruangan
He is currently living at their house at Brgy. Libag Sur, Tuguegarao City with both of his
parents. He has 7 older siblings and him as the youngest. He is currently studying at
University of Cagayan Valley as third year student of BS Marine Engineering department.
He is active in his social life and always socializing with friends.
SEXUALLY REPRODUCTIVE PATTERN
He is in a relationship. He has girlfriend currently studying at Cagayan State University.
And their planning to settle down after finishing their studies.
VALUES BELIEF PATTERN
Patient x is a born again Christian and has a strong faith. He is very active in their church.
Patient X gets his inspiration from his parents and most of all to God. He is a Roman
Catholic and has a strong faith in Him by praying every night for his immediate recovery.
COPING AND STRESS TOLERANCE PATTERN

He always a positive outlook in life despite of the disease being acquired. Sometimes, he
prefers to be loner to have a silent and calm environment. He also advice those people
with hepatitis that they must not lose their hope and must always pray to God.
