Digital stories at the second edition of the NGOs Communication

Camp training course

NGOs Communication Camp - digital stories and information exchange between NGO communication
experts at the 2nd edition of the international communication training course organized in Romania
by the D.G.T. association and financed by the Erasmus+ program.
NGOs Communication Camp, the second edition, a communication training dedicated to NGOs
was held in Valea Doftanei, Romania, from September 1st 2014. During one week, 30 participants,
people with expertise in communication and members of non- profit organizations from
countries such as Italy, Hungary, Turkey, Croatia, Greece, Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, Poland
and Romania participated in a series of trainings and non-formal education workshops, where
they experienced promoting digital storytelling using innovative communication techniques.
"I believe in the power of non-profit organizations to change the world for the better and I believe
that there are a lot of good projects being implemented, that just need to have their voice heard.
NGOs Communication Camp is that voice, where NGOs can learn about specific communication,
tailored for them. Last year, when we organized the first edition of the training, we assumed the
existence of a specialized communication need and after the training we realized that there is a real
need for the communication strategy of non-governmental organizations to be customized.
Therefore, this year we continue our project and we organize a communication training, funded by
Erasmus+, NGOs Communication Camp 2nd edition, where our trainers will initiate the young people
aged 18 till 35 in the mysteries of communication methods such as storytelling." said Emilia Radu,
trainer of the project NGOs Communication Camp.
The training course NGOs Communication Camp organized by the Association DGT (Do Great
Things and leave your mark) presents six specific concepts and develops the participants skills
through workshops like Storytelling, where participants learn to transform NGOs projects in
moral stories, "employer brand" that outline strategies for motivated employees, "internal
communication" , a workshop that helps NGOs and youth workers to motivate the team,
"backpack journalism", an introductory workshop to digital journalism, "promotional materials" a
session where we put in motion same time the minds and hands of the participants and "creative
labs" where stories come alive. Thus, at the end of the course, participants will be able to create
creative communication strategies that tell stories about people and their relevant projects.
Through the six modules, trainers intend to develop skills in digital communication, non-formal
education and involvement in community. In addition, at the end of the course participants will
receive a Youth Pass certificate accredited by the European Commission showing competence in
internal communication, public relations, web-design and storytelling assimilated during the
seven training days.
