you!pledge!to!support!comprehensive!reform!of!the!way!that!campaign!money!flows!in!
New!York!politics,!including!public!matching!funds.!

Specifically,!I!urge!you!to!publicly!state!that!you!will!insist!that!Governor!Andrew!
Cuomos!proposal!to!provide!matching!funds!for!small!donations!for!all!state!offices!is!
not!removed!from!the!Governors!budget!proposal.!Your!public!pledge!would!signal!to!
the!citizens!of!the!state!that!a!new!day!is!possible!in!Albany.!

The!publics!trust!in!Albany!has!been!shattered!by!a!parade!of!moneyQinQpolitics!
scandals!over!the!past!decade.!The!overarching!problem!in!Albany!is!not!one!of!
personal!graft;!the!problem!is!systemic!corruption!stemming!from!lax!and!ineffective!
laws.!Only!comprehensive,!structural!reforms!will!begin!to!address!the!culture!of!
corruption!that!too!many!New!Yorkers!believe!envelops!their!capital!and!their!
government.!

You!have!an!historic!opportunity!to!turn!the!page!by!championing!structural!moneyQinQ
politics!reforms.!New!Yorkers!are!watching!and!they!are!sizing!up!whether!the!new!
leadership!in!the!Assembly!means!a!continuation!or!a!break!from!the!past.!I!believe!that!
out!of!the!ashes!of!these!scandals!strong!leadership!that!places!the!public!interest!over!
the!special!interests!can!rise.!
