IP66/67 Filter Assembly

(IPF-001)
Instruction Guide

MAN-0109 Rev 01
March 26, 2009

Introduction
The IP66/67 Filter is a hydrophobic filter specially designed by Net Safety to protect the Millennium II
series sensors from water ingression caused by high pressure water applications. It also protects the
sensors from dust and other debris that may inhibit the performance of the sensor.
For reliable gas detection and calibration it is recommended that the IP66/67 Filter and sensor housing
mouth, be checked for oil films, dirt deposits and other debris during routine maintenance. Apply gas to
the sensor and observe its response. This test should be done regularly and will give an indication of
whether or not the filter is clear or blocked. If Filter is found to be dirty, use a clean cloth to carefully
wipe. If the IP66/67 Filter is damaged or degraded, replace it. The life of the filter will be determined by
the type of chemicals and particulates its exposed to.
The IP66/67 Filter should be fitted to the following Millennium II Sensors: SC311X-100-ASSY,
SC310X-100-ASSY, ST322X-100-ASSY, ST321X-100-ASSY, ST371X-300-ASSY, and ST340X-25ASSY.

Warning:

Never use tools (hammers, etc) to fit the IP66/67 Filter to the sensor housing.

Steps in fitting the IP66/67 Filter to MII Sensor Housing

Fitting IP66/67 Filter to sensor housing

1. Examine Filter O-rings for cracks and breaks

2. Check that O-rings are fitted properly in grooves on filter enclosure.
3. Ensure that the filter is not degraded, damaged or dirty. If found to
be dirty, carefully wipe dirt and debris off with a clean cloth.
4. Position the filter in line with the sensor housing. See illustration.
5. Firmly push against filter with the thumb or palm of hand, until it fits
housing mouth. See IP66/67 Filter mounted to sensor, on page 2.

Warning:

Always remove calibration cup after completing calibration.

Steps in calibrating with the IP66/67 Filter fitted to MII Sensor Housing
1. When calibrating sensor, ensure that no debris (water, oil film, dirt) is clogging
the filter.
2. Check that the filter is properly seated, and then fit calibration cup and tubing to
filter and sensor housing assembly.
3. Commence calibration procedure, as outlined in sensor manuals.
4. When calibration is completed, remove calibration cup and tubing.
