Dalian Maritime University (DMU) is working on promoting cooperation and understanding between China and other

countries. Our university is educating outstanding international students and enhancing research in Chinas Project
211 universities. Entrusted by the Ministry of Education of China, DMU is welcoming application from prospective
students interested in full-time graduate studies (masters and doctoral degrees) under the 2015 Chinese Government
Scholarship Program.
I Subsidized Target and Scholarship Coverage
1.

Subsidized target: this scholarship program is aimed at assisting masters degree and doctoral degree candidates

applying for studying at DMU in 2015.

2.

Scholarship Coverage:
Scholarship recipients are exempt from registration fee, tuition, laboratory fee, internship fee, study
materials.
Free on-campus accommodation.
Monthly living allowance (masters degree students: 1,700RMB/month; doctoral degree students:
2,000RMB/month).
One-off settlement subsidy (1,500RMB/person).
Outpatient medical service and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme for International
Students in China.

Note: 1. Cost of experiments or internships beyond the program curricular is at students own expense.
2. Cost of books or learning materials other than required basic textbooks is at students own expense
3. Scholarship recipients registering on or before 15th of the registration month will be granted the full
living allowance of that month. Recipients registering after 15th of the registration month will be granted half of
the living allowance of that month.

II Qualifications for Scholarship Application
1. The applicant must be a foreign citizen in good health.
2. The applicant must not be a registered student in Chinese universities upon application (graduates from Chinese
universities must have been graduated for more than one year).
3. Education and Age Requirements:
The Applicant for masters degree study should have obtained a bachelors degree or will obtain a bachelors
degree before July 2015 and not be older than 35; the applicant for doctoral degree study should have obtained a
masters degree or will obtain a masters degree before July 2015 and not be older than 40.
4. The major an applicant applied for studying at DMU should belong to the same discipline of his/her highest level
of education.
5. The applicant should not be holding scholarships of any other category supported by Chinese Government or local
governments in China.

IV Application Materials (in duplicate)

Applicants shall truthfully fill in the application form and provide the real application documents completely
(application materials should be submitted in hard copies in duplicate to Admissions Office of International
Education College of DMU).
1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship: Applicants must finish the online application
procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students. Please go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua, complete
the required information, submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online and print
two hard copies.
Note: Our agency number is 10151.
Your application documents would not be reviewed if you didnt finish the online application.
2. Highest diplomaA notarized copy of the highest diploma should be submitted. Documents in languages other than
Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English. The notarized documents should
be submitted in original copies.
Note: If you are a graduate of 2015, please submit an official proof of student status which must be marked with
the expected graduation date and the time to obtain the prospective diploma.
If you are a PhD candidate, you should submit degree certificates and transcripts of both bachelors
degree and masters degree as required.
If you are an employed person, apart from the degree certificate and transcripts, please also submit
your certificate of employment.
3. Academic Transcripts: Notarized copies of all undergraduate transcripts should be submitted if you are a
masters degree candidate; notarized copies of transcripts of both undergraduate study and masters degree study
should be submitted if you are a PhD candidate. Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be

attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English. The notarized documents should be submitted in original
copies.
4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal: A study plan or research proposal written in Chinese shall be no fewer
than 2000 Chinese characters for masters degree study and 3000 Chinese characters for doctoral degree study; a
study plan or research proposal written in English shall be no fewer than 2500 words. The study plan or research
proposal should include educational background and work experience, results of academic research, research plan for
graduate study, and personal goals and plans after graduation, etc.
5. Recommendation letters: Applicants should provide two recommendation letters from professors or associate
professors. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in
Chinese or English. The notarized documents should be submitted in original copies.
6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The photocopy must be enclosed with one photo of the
applicant; the original copy should be kept by the applicant. The form designated by Chinese quarantine authority
could be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and should be printed doublesided. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a
sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take physical examination as
the result is valid for only 6 months.
7. Photocopy of Valid Passport: The photocopies should include all the personal information pages of your
passport.
8. Photocopy of HSK Certificate: If you have an HSK certificate, please submit a photocopy of it (not a
compulsory and necessary requirement).
9. Photocopy of TOEFL or IELTS Test Report: Applicants applying for English-medium majors should submit a test
report of TOEFL or IELTS (not applicable for the applicants whose official language is English). Applicants without
the above mentioned documents should provide other kinds of official certificate of proficiency in English.
10. If an applicant has published any paper, been granted any award or scholarship, or has any other certificate of
academic ability, the title, abstract and publication or any other valid documentation should be provided.
Note: The application documents will not be returned whether applicants are accepted or not.
V Application Time and Approval Process
The Application is open until the 30 th March 2015.
1. Applicants should send the application materials to International Education College (IEC) of DMU before 30th March
2015. IEC will select qualified applicants and send their documents to relevant faculties.

2. The list of nominated candidates will be decided by the experts of DMU. The results of the assessment will be
announced on the website of IEC by end of April.
3. DMU will report the results to China Scholarship Council (CSC). Nominated candidates will be officially awarded
Chinese Government Scholarship with the approval from CSC.
4. DMU will send the Admission Notice and Visa application form (JW201) to successful applicants by the end of July,
2015.
VI Scholarship recipients are not permitted to change the major, medium of instruction, host university or the
duration of study as specified in the Admission Notice.
VII Scholarship recipients are required to finish registration at DMU within the registration period prescribed by
DMU. Students who fail to register within the stipulated time limit without the permission from DMU, the student
status and scholarship status of his/her will be automatically cancelled.
VIII Scholarship recipients should participate in annual scholarship evaluation. Students who fail to meet the
requirements will have their scholarship cancelled.
IX Dalian Maritime University retains the final right of interpretation of these detailed implementation
regulations.
