Breakfast Off to Strong Start

BCBP mens breakfast
for year 2012 kicked off
with a bang with the new
Breakfast head, Leo Legara, sharing his life story.
Leo had been scheduled and ready to share
last December. However
some events prevented
him. He is meant to be
the first mens breakfast
sharer being the new
breakfast head.

The men breakfasters

happily welcomed Kuya
Leo as he accepted the
big responsibility from
past Breakfast
head
Doxie Cabasagan.
Trusting in the Lord of
yesterday, today and
tomorrow, Leo is ready
to face the balance of
2012. He knows he has
the full support of the
BCBP community.

The sharer, Leo Legara of

Mactan

No matter how good things are in our life, there is always a challenge that needs to be
worked on. And no matter how bad things are in our life, there is always something good we
can thank God for. Always have a grateful heart.

do their share in accomplishing the goal the chapter has set for this quarter.

To equip the new

Leaders with the necessary skills to be effective
in their service, a Leadership Training is schedule this month. Venue

KUSOG Feeds launched its
Free Artificial Insemination (AI)
program. Starting this year
2012, KUSOG Feeds is giving
free AI to all its customers.
Through the Free AI services,
hog raisers can now improve
the genetics of their piglets,
thus this will translate to faster
growth and eventually to higher
profits.
As of this writing, there are
already 21 AI centers in different areas in VISMIN. Hi breed
boars (Duroc and Large White)

were purchased direct from the

breeding farm to be assured of
good semen material. In every
boar center, there will be a
trained technician to assist the
backyard raisers for any diagnosis, treatment and any related
services that they need.
With this program, backyard
raisers are guaranteed to save at
least P 1,500.00 for the usual
cost of AI. During these hard
days, the said amount can go a
long way for their familys
needs.

Understand how beautifully God has added one more day in your life, not because you need
it but because others need you.

I was in Prison,You Visited Me

Fr. Martin Okafor-Ilozue CSSp - BCBP Mactan BCLP19

In March of 2011, a woman approached me and asked if I will be willing to celebrate Mass in the City Jail on a particular Sunday. I accepted the invitation, thinking it
is just that once. Trying to observe protocol, I called up the parish priest requesting
for permission before going to the prison for the Mass, he answered that the prison is
independent and under CAPA (Cebu Archdiocese Prison Apostolate). I told the
Fr. Martin

woman to inform the overall prison chaplain in the Archdiocese before I will go
there. In the end, one of the Prison Wardens called me up to assure me that they will
get the necessary permit.
On going there for Mass that Sunday (1st Sunday in April), I saw a multitude of men
and women willing to listen to word of God, and their situation physically is good but

their mental framework is not so good. The jail I learned is a detainee camp where
suspects are kept while the trial is going on, surprisingly some have been there for
more than 11years and still no judgment yet. Before I left that Sunday, I had an agreement with the prison officials that I will be celebrating mass there every first Sunday
of the month after knowing that for almost one year they had no regular mass there,
only the lay members of CAPA visit and catechize them monthly.
Since then I have been going there more than once a month for confessions and
visits as I have come to know most of them personally. Going to the prison comes
with lots of responsibilities, keeping up with the story of each one that comes to you
and of course helping them with their material needs, but in all these, there is joy in
associating with them and preaching the word of God to them despite my busy
schedules in the Hospital and the Center in the squatter area.

A beautiful world can only be seen thru the eyes of a happy heart. May you have a
happy heart to see the beauty God made especially for you.

Chapter Heads Message

CH Guy and Eden Ceniza

Accept one another for the glory of

God, as Christ accepted you. Dont be
afraid for the Lord is merciful. And for
those lives who are burdened, the
Lords kingdom will give rest.
Reflecting on our message for the
month derived during our Community
Assembly is aptly fit for few things;
1. Our thrust for this 1st quarter
2012 Reaching Out.
2. Reorganization.
3. February being a LOVE month.
Our membership in BCBP is not a
coincidence but a calling. It is a calling
for us to renew and live out. Our evangelistic role as a Christian is being reinforced in BCBP. Our thrust this 1st
quarter 2012 is a form of evangelization
to our members; letting them know
how important it is to be in a community.

It is important that we take active

role in reaching out to those who had
detached themselves from our community. It is incumbent upon the servant leaders to take the lead but it
would be much better for all to take
part.
Unconditional love is accepting one
another with no boundaries and or
limitations. Few days from now we will
be celebrating Valentines Day. Can we
recall the last time we had truly celebrated Valentines Day? For me this day
is meant to remind us the importance
of LOVE.
Having the aura of love everyday
will give us the necessary sustenance
for harmony in our families and in the
community. Time is of essence. Let us
therefore start now for tomorrow may
never come.

Express Your Love

Nery Gula

To express my love is one of my

action plans during the Couples Retreat held last year. I was reminded
very strongly of this task at the honoring of the late Kuya Romy Maraya. It
made me look intently inward.
Its LOVE month once again. We
are again reminded that relationships
matter. That love should be expressed
not only through actions but should be
communicated verbally. This reminds
me of a beautiful slogan posted on the
wall on the altar of our church during
my high school days. It read: Kung
duna pa untay GUGMA, dili unta
mosinggit ang kahilum.
I had a hard time understanding this
passage then. Now, I know what it
means. That there are people who long

to be loved. Who in the deepest of

their hearts long to hear and be assured that they are loved. Sad though
that some live and die without being
told so. Sadder still if this happen in
our very own family.
We are still in the second month of
this year. It is not yet late to make love
resolutions. Express your love verbally.
Tell your love ones they matter and
mean so much.
Jesus wanted to know if Peter loved
Him. He asked three times. God in His
human nature wanted to be assured. I
too do some asking. But I often fail in
the telling.
Express your love. Let this be our
battle cry.
HAPPY VALENTINES!

Happiness is not something you have in your hands, its something you carry in your heart.
Give it away generously and it will return to you a thousand fold.

Saint Valentine

Jesus makes us brave when we are afraid; strong when were weak; but foremost, He
teaches us to carry our crosses daily and follow Him.
