Looking to Yeshua

Yeshua is a minister to repentive sinners. – They that be whole need not a physician, but they that be sick.
(Mark 2:17)
He came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Mark 2:17)
Having in remembrance His sacrifice – sobering. Having an appreciation for what’s right. (Thinking about
these things we can reap joy.)
Those who know they’re in sin and need help.

Numbers 21:4-9 “And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of
Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. And the people spake
against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness?
for [there is] no bread, neither [is there any] water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. And Yahveh sent
fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. Therefore the
people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against Yahveh, and against thee;
pray unto Yahveh, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And Yahveh
said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every
one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon
a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he
lived.”
(Romans 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we
through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”)
Not just history – we can reap hope. They weren’t in a place to press through the hardness. Fell into
murmuring. Then acknowledged their sin …  Yahveh’s mercy.

John 3:14-19 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted
up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For Elohiym so loved the
world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For Elohiym sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of Elohiym. And
this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil.”
Yeshua teaching us that we need to look to Him. In Numbers, they knew others had died – They were
probably looking earnestly at the serpent. Look not to ourselves – We can get so frustrated with ourselves
that we want to annihilate ourselves, forgetting about the hope we have in Him. Paul said he was chief of
sinners. (“This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Mashiyach Yeshua came into the
world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1 Timothy 1:15)
In John, Yeshua wasn’t just saying that the righteous would have everlasting life, but that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:15,16) He came to call sinners to
repentance.
vs 20 “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be
reproved.” Not our nature to love the truth. – Continually look to Him for grace.

1 Peter 1:13 “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is
to be brought unto you at the revelation of Yeshua ha Mashiyach;”
Be determined to get right with Yeshua. Elohiym will supply the grace.

Once the people were bitten by the serpent, that was enough (didn’t want to go back and get bitten
again).
Accounts of righteous men who made mistakes – David numbered the people (2 Samuel 24). His heart
smote him. Many people were hurt by that. He didn’t say, “I’m just a fool,” and give up. He built an altar
to Yahveh.

Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things that are before (“Brethren,
I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are
behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,” Philippians 3:13), go on to perfection.
(“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Mashiyach, let us go on unto perfection; not laying
again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward Elohiym,” Hebrews 6:1)
