Answer any 5 Questions

(5X10 = 50Marks)

1. Two identical rollers, each of weight 50N, are supported by an inclined plane and vertical wall as
shownin figure 1. Find the reactions at the points of supports A, B and C. Assume all the surfaces to
be smooth.
2. A prismatic bar AB 4m long weighing 100N is hinged at A. It is held in equilibrium by Tension T in
the rope BC shown in figure 2. Find the tension T and the reaction at A.

3. Find the minimum force P required to just lift the upper block against the inclined wall. Assume
Coefficient of friction on all contacting surfaces to be 0.25.Refer figure 3.

4. Compute the reactions at the supports A and B of the beam loaded as shown in figure 4. Neglect the
weight of the beam.

5. A body of uniform thickness is kept on an inclined plane. Cross section of the body is given in
figure5. If the inclination of the surface is incresed gradually, check whethter sliding or over turning
with respect point A will take place first. Assume coefficient of friction to be 0.25.
6. Determine the forces in all members of the trussloaded and supportedas shown in figure 6.
