Overview

2.1

Feature Introduction
DPCT indicates that two transmitters send same bursts in the same moment, and form a
nominal carrier through the combiner, thus enhancing the output power.
The four-antenna diversity receiving function is used with DPCT simultaneously to
implement the ultra-distance coverage of BTS.
This feature can enhance the downlink transmission power, thus expanding the
coverage of the cell.

2.2

Correlation with Other Features

This feature is related with the following features:

Technical Description
DPCT uses two carriers in the double-density carrier module to send the same pulses
simultaneously, and overlap the pulses to implement the output enhancement. See the
following Figure 1.

Figure 1

DPCT Function

The phases and amplitudes of the signals of two channels are identical, and the signals
will be combined in the RF module. Theoretically, because PAs of two channels are
combined into one channel to output, the signal will gain the downlink gain of 3 dB. The
actual gain is 2.5 dB after the deduction of loss of internal combining. DPCT is different
from DDT in this way: DPCT can enhance the power physically, therefore, it is especially
applicable for areas with large-coverage demand.
RU02 selects the module of internal combining, and configure two carriers to one carrier
whose combining output implements the DPCT function.

Engineering Guide

6.1

Application Scenario
When the function is used, at BTS side, it is applicable only for RF modules whose RU
type is RU02 or RU02E in SDR platform. At BSC side, it is applicable for iBSC V6.20 or
above.

6.2

Configuration Description
Select DPCT mode in background configuration.
RU02 should provide the module of internal combining.

6.3

Network Impacts
Impact on network:
This feature can enhance the downlink coverage effectively, and can work with uplink
enhancement technology in scenarios with large-coverage demand to improve the
access performance of cell boundary.
Impact on NEs:
When this function is activated, the capacity of double-density carrier is reduced by half.
That is, if a S222 adopts DPCT, the capacity will changed to S111.
