Reflections

Pastor David Gunawan

Discover the perfect gift that only you can give.

As we enter into the Christmas holiday season, one of the things foremost in our
minds is presents. Christmas has become somewhat synonymous with gifts and
presents, and retailers have played a significant role in ensuring that it is a major
focus every year. You can barely go anywhere or switch to any channel, without
seeing advertisements suggesting a variety of gifts for everyone. However, while
we would like to think that gifts are the source of joy and happiness, we must be
careful not to allow a materialistic mindset to convince us that true joy can be
found in merely giving ‘things’. Giving toys, t-shirts, socks, and other things may
offer temporary happiness, but surely Christmas and its great significance should
remind us of more than something so transient and superficial?

Building Fund
W e all rise to the challenge to achieve great things if given a spark of hope.
When an individual is empowered to change, a family rejoices in hope. When
familie change, a city is transformed.

Hope Mission Centre (HMC) was established in 1999 in Parramatta by Rev. Samuel
Gunawan and Rev. Dr. Aileen Gunawan, both filled with a deep desire to touch and
transform lives with the message of hope.

Today, Hope Mission Centre is a multi-faceted, vibrant organisation with over

50 volunteers who share the same mission and passion to serve the community.
We offer numerous programs and services that strengthen, support and assist the
community, give purpose to youth, and restore family values.

As we progress day by day with our untiring work, we are inundated with calls and
requests for support – physical, financial, spiritual, and emotional. In order for us to
carry out our work effectively and efficiently, we need a building of our own.

You can get involved by making a tax-deductible donation towards the purchase
of the building, which costs AUD 800,000. Together, we can bring about social
transformation in our neighbourhood, in our community, and in our world. God
bless you and your generosity.
