Brazil officially the Federative Republic

of Brazil is the largest country in South


America and the only Portuguesespeaking country in the Americas,
Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the
east, Brazil has a coastline of over
7,491 kilometers (4,655 mi).It is
bordered on the north by
Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and
the French overseas department
of French Guiana; on the northwest
by Colombia; on the west by Bolivia
and Peru; on the southwest
by Argentina and Paraguay and on the
south by Uruguay

It also encompasses a number of oceanic archipelagos, such as Fernando


de Noronha, Rocas Atoll, Saint Peter and Paul Rocks, and Trindade and
Martim Vaz. Its size, relief, climate, and natural resources make Brazil
geographically diverse

Brazil is the largest


national economy
in Latin America,
the world's eighth
largest economy at
market exchange rates
and the ninth
largest inpurchasing
power parity (PPP),
according to
the International
Monetary Fund and
the World Bank.

Brazilian topography is also diverse and


includes hills, mountains, plains, highlands,
and scrublands.
The northwestern parts of the plateau consist
of broad, rolling terrain broken by low, rounded
hills.
The southeastern section is more rugged, with a
complex mass of ridges and mountain
ranges reaching elevations of up to
1,200 metres (3,900 ft).
Brazil has a dense and complex system of rivers,
one of the world's most extensive, with eight
major drainage basins, all of which drain into the
Atlantic.

The climate of Brazil comprises a wide range of weather


conditions across a large area and varied topography, but
most of the country is tropical. According to the Kppen
system, Brazil hosts five major climatic subtypes:
equatorial, tropical, semiarid, highland tropical, temperate,
and subtropical.

The different climatic conditions


produce environments ranging
from equatorial rainforests in the
north and semiarid deserts in the
northeast, to temperate coniferous
forests in the south and tropical
savannas in central Brazil. Many
regions have starkly different
microclimates.

Brazil's large territory comprises different


ecosystems, such as the Amazon Rainforest,
recognized as having the greatest biological
diversity in the world, with the Atlantic
Forest and the Cerrado, sustaining the
greatest
biodiversity.
In
the
south,
the Araucaria pine forest grows under
temperate conditions.

The Macaw is a typical animal of Brazil

Larger mammals include pumas, jaguars, ocelots,


rare bush
dogs,and foxes; peccaries, tapirs,anteaters, slot
hs, opossums, and armadillos are
abundant. Deer are plentiful in the south, and
many species of New World monkeys are found
in the northern rain forests. Concern for the
environment has grown in response to global
interest in environmental issues.

The country has one


of the world's most
diverse populations
of birds and
amphibians.

The official language of Brazil is


Portuguese which is spoken by
almost all of the population and is
virtually the only language used in
newspapers, radio, television, and
for business and administrative
purposes.

The most popular sport in Brazil is football (soccer).


The Brazilian national football team is ranked among the
best in the world according to the FIFA World Rankings,
and has won the World Cup tournament a record five
times.

Brazil has hosted several high-profile international sporting


events, including the 1950 FIFA World Cup and has been
chosen to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Tourism in Brazil is a growing sector and key to the


economy of several regions of the country.
The country had 5 million
visitors in 2008and ranked
as the fourth largest
tourist destination in
the Americas the main
destination in South
America, and second
in Latin America
after Mexico, in terms of
the international tourist
arrivals.
Brazil offers for both domestic and international
tourists, an ample gamut of options, with natural areas
being its most popular tourism product, a combination
of ecotourism with leisure and recreation mainly sun
and beach, and adventure travel, as well as historic and
cultural tourism.

The cataracts of the Iguaz, in the border between


Argentina and Brazil, are one of the great natural wonders
of South America. The height of the cataracts oscillates
between 60 and 80 m.s during the dry station the river is
branched off in two cataracts with increasing moon form,
but in the humid station the water is united in a great
cataract of more than 4 km in width.

Cambori is a populated coastal city of the


state of Santa Catarina, where emphasize its

Rio de Janeiro is amongst the most famous places in Brazil. A

One can also revel in the carnival celebrations, which includes
parades and loads of music and dance. Copacabana, which lies
in the Southern zone of Rio de Janeiro is most famous for its
beach. This place is the hot spot especially during the New
Years Eve celebrations.

So Paulo is located in South Eastern area of Brazil and is also

known as the richest city. This is also the most populated


place. The So Paulo fashion week is one of the most
celebrated weeks, which marks Brazils first entry into the
world of international fashion. Apart from this there are
many events that draw in huge crowds from various fields

This state that lies in the Southern region of Brazil particularly attracts crowds
for its beautiful beaches. Florianpolis is the city that probably remains to be
the biggest attraction. One can find more than 500 gorgeous beaches out here.
Besides, at Santa Catarina, there are plenty of events and themes being planned
regularly throughout the year as a means of tourist attractions.
Santa Catarina has varied climates to offer and this itself proves to be one of
the reasons why people flock out here in large numbers.

Fortaleza is located in the Northeastern


area of Brazil. Fortaleza remains to be
a popular tourist destination that
enjoys a warm climate throughout the
year. The warm waters in particular are
one of Fortalezas major attractions.
Every beach over here has its own
uniqueness. For example, Iracema is
where people meet together to party
till the next morning where as Praia do
Futuro is one that is most
recommended for surfing!

Salvador is located on the northeastern


coast of Brazil. The prime attractions
of the city of Salvador are the
sumptuous cuisine, the beautiful music
and the grand architecture. This city
also has the longest of coastlines
amongst all cities in Brazil. The
beautiful beaches are an ideal hotspot
for people who want to explore the
underwater life or even surf the large
waves. Apart from the beaches,
Salvador also has some of the best
shopping malls for the shopaholics!

This place remains to be one of the major


meeting points for all the rich and famous
people. The famous statue of Brigitte
Bardot stands testimony to this fact. This
peninsula is also known as Bzios. This area
is actually a very sophisticated beach resort
that has some of the finest facilities. From
extravagant luxurious things to delectable
cuisine, one can enjoy a very rocking
nightlife out here.
