ENERGY EFFICIENT HANDLING OF BIG DATA IN EMBEDDED,

WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

AIM:
The main aim of this project is to implement

Energy efficient handling of big data in

embedded, wireless sensor networks which uses MEMS to monitor the vehicle movements and
track the vehicle using GPS when an accident occurs to the vehicle

DESCRIPTION:
The total equipment of this project is placed inside a vehicle is not visible to others. Here
In this project we have temperature sensor and CO sensor which are interfaced to the micro
controller. Temperature sensor through which we can measure amount of Temperature exhausted
from the vehicle. CO sensor will sense the amount of CO gas emitted from the vehicle. These
values are also displayed on LCD. Whenever the CO gas level exceeds the threshold limit then
the motor of the vehicle is stopped. Ultrasonic sensor in the module is used to detect any
obstacle in the surroundings of the vehicle and intimate the microcontroller which will stop the
vehicle. We have MEMS accelerometer which will sense the movements of the vehicle
continuously. When an accident occurs to the vehicle the movement of the vehicle is changed
which will be detected by the MEMS and this information is given to microcontroller. We use
GPS (Global Positioning System) module here to get the location of the vehicle where the
accident has occurred. The location values are given to microcontroller. By using GPRS
MODEM we can send this data to internet and SMS to user mobile.
TECHNOLOGY:
GPS:
GPS (Global Positioning System) technology is used to find the location of any object or
vehicle to monitor a child continuously using satellite signals. Three satellite signals are
necessary to locate the receiver in 3D space and fourth satellite is used for time accuracy. GPS
will give the information of parameters like longitude, latitude and attitude. With the help of
these parameters one can easily locate the position of any object. In this GPS technology, the
communication takes place between GPS transceiver and GPS satellite.
GPRS:
GPRS is expected to profoundly change the mobile data services that GSM, CDMA and
TDMA (ANSI-I36) network operators can offer. GPRS will increase opportunities for higher
revenues and enable new, differentiated services and tariff dimensions to be offered (such as a
charge for the number of kilobytes of data transferred). GPRS combines mobile access with

Internet protocol (IP)-based services, using packet data transmission that makes highly efficient
use of radio spectrum and enables high data speeds. It gives users increased bandwidth, making
it possible and cost-effective to remain constantly connected, as well as to send and receive data
text, graphics and video.
