GM / REFEREE PLAYER
The unit of measurement used to determine agency in a game is the Jee. The higher the amount of Jee, the greater agency utilized by the player.
Example: A measurement of 10 Jees means that there is no real GM or referee, and if the game measures 1 Jee, then the GM is the ultimate arbitrator of the game, where
even the players agency over their character can be limited by the GM if he or she feels that the character would not act as the player would like.
RULE COMPLEXITY
SIMPLE COMPLEX
The unit of measurement used to determine a games complexity is the Cog. The higher the amount of Cog, the more complex the rule system.
Example: 10 Cogs would be extremely complex to create characters and play, using a wide variety of rules to handle every possible situation. A measurement of 1 Cog
would be a game that has very few rules, and even fewer rolls of the dice, often relying on role playing to decide the outcome of most situations.
REALISM
CINEMATIC SIMULATION
The unit of measurement used to determine a games complexity is the Sim. The higher the amount of Sim, the more simulationist the rule system.
Example: 10 Sims would be a game that attempts to simulate realism as much as possible without a computer, perhaps accessing real scientific and historical data to increase
the realism of the game. A measurement of 1 Sim would be a game with little or no attempt to simulate the real world, favoring the action movie as a model for realism.
STORY / NARRATIVE
TACTICAL NARRATIVE
The unit of measurement used to determine a games narrative is the Nar. The higher the amount of Nar, the more narrative and story-driven the game.
Example: 10 Nars would be a game where the narrative is much more important than the acquisition of a characters power, levels, gear, and so on. A game with 1 Nar
would favor a more war game or video game style, where the players derive enjoyment from maximizing achievements and basically winning the game.
IMMERSION
CASUAL IMMERSIVE
The unit of measurement used to determine a games level of immersion is the Im. The greater the amount of Im, the more immersive the game.
Example: 10 Ims would be an extremely immersive game where the players prefer to stay in character as much as possible, breaking immersion only when absolutely
necessary. A game of 1 Im would be the most casual of games where focus often drifts to non-game-related subjects with frequent digressions.
CONTENT RATING
LIGHT INTENSE
The unit of measurement used to determine the intensity of a games content is the In. The greater the amount of In, the more intense the game.
Example: 10 Ins would be a game that contains extreme adult content, including sex, sensitive issues, and extreme violence. In terms of movies, these games would be
Rated-R or even XXX. They could also contain triggers for those who have suffered severe trauma. A game of 1 In would be Rated-G and should be suitable for children.
