GOOD BUYS
Red & Yellow Peppers: We
are stll receiving abundant
supplies of peppers in 15 lb.
packs from southern
California.

Green Peppers: Stll a good
buy with great quality.

Watermelons: Red seedless
watermelons are now arriving
from North Carolina and the
quality and prices are really
good. Yellow watermelons
are fnished for the season.

Nectarines: We stll have
some local nectarines but
peaches from local sources
are fnished.
Cantaloupes &
Honeydews: You have
untl the middle of October
to enjoy the sugar levels and
ripe, great favor of melons
from the west side. Afer
that, we start moving to
Arizona which has very nice
melons but nothing as good
as the west side. So order
up now!

Local Apples: Crown
Orchards in Charlotesville
are sending Jonathan and
Gala apples. We are getng
lots of crunchy red and
golden delicious from Parker
Farms and Pennsylvania.

Tomatoes: We are happy
recipients of fantastc ship-
ments of gorgeous local
tomatoes. Sink your teeth
into the tangy goodness of
the seasons last bite.

WATCH
Mini-squash: Hurricane
winds and rain in the Baja
Peninsula have stymied the
harvestng of baby zucchini,
yellow sunburst and green
paty pan squash.

Sugar Snap Peas: This
market remains very actve.

Peeled garlic: Ofshore
shipments contnue to be held
up leading to unprecedented
shortages and high prices.

Broccoli, Crowns &
Caulifower: Prices are way
up on all these popular staples
this week.

Brussels Sprouts: Seasonal
demand has kicked in, leading
to prices which almost
doubled this week.

Green beans: Very actve
market contnues as cooler
nights in PA and NY caused
prices to spike.

Zucchini & Yellow Squash:
Fancy yellow is the highest
but all squash is higher now
with shortages.

Berries: The strawberry price
is stll high but the availability
has improved slightly. The
felds are transitoning from
Salinas and Watsonville to
Santa Maria and Oxnard.
Blackberries are high and
tght. Blueberries are coming
from Michigan with Argentna
next. Raspberries are tght.
KEEP IN MIND
Lemons: The prices have fnally
started to trend downward and
we are seeing some sofness in
the market. They are loading nice
quality citrus out of Southern
California and Arizona.
Oranges: We are stuck with the
same problem of smaller oranges
being high with tght supplies and
larger Valencia's at beter prices.

Grapefruit: California is fnishing
and we are moving to Florida .
The prices are up for larger sizes
(27 and 32 count).

Avocados: We have about a
week and a half for California fruit
and then we will transiton to
Mexico. The price is up slightly.

Persimmons, Pomegranates &
Quince: We have the frst of the
California persimmons as well as
perennial favorites.

Pears: Bartlets, bosc pears and
DAnjous are enjoying a market
pull as we get into the fall mood.

Green Onions: Prices are
trending down as the crisis
subsides.

Cilantro & Leeks: Prices holding
steady this week.

Red Leaf & Green Leaf: These
are the only leafy items with
reasonable prices this week.

Farms in PA.
