The Future of Cloud Computing 2

The Future of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has been around for awhile now but just recently the term has
changed into something much deeper. Instead of physical software there is now software
made available on the internet. An example of software on the internet can be Google
docs. Not just that, any human with internet capabilities can play games through servers
in the cloud without needing a high end graphics card. Its kind of like or almost identical
to remote programs that allow a person to view their home computer from their work
place or anywhere else. There are other methods of using cloud computing too. There is
data storage which can be used to store your data online. For example a website like
4shared or Megaupload allows anyone to upload any data with a limit to size and space.
There is also platform/infrastructure which can be thought of as a computer operating
environment such as Amazon Web Services.
This technology can be seen as an opportunity, an opportunity for developing businesses
or anyone working at home. For business the ability to keep software in the cloud provides an
easy way to keep track of business sales, operations, purchases, production, and much more.
Instead of a business having to handle software their own they can just leave it to the cloud to
manage their programs. Companies that are small dont need their IT departments because
everything they need they can get from the cloud. Although that is possible for small companies
it is not for large ones they still need to maintain Internet connections, firewall protection, local
area networks, and workstations.
Going back to where cloud computing began there are drastic changes by size and mass
but these changes are often appearing the same when it comes to services. Using email was one
of the first services that used cloud computing. Hotmail and Gmail are examples of emails that

used some kind of cloud computing. Imagine a business running services off how emails ran
then. Little storage even thought we knew there was more out there. Today storage can be
unlimited. As for businesses this form of storage can help a company when it needs to upgrade
without having to do it in-house. Its an easier way of upgrading or downgrading without
having to pay more for a service a company cant afford to run. They can easily downgrade from
a service without having to doing themselves, which is as easy as it gets.
A question about cloud computing can be concerns on service reliability or security.
When there is information in the cloud can is confidential there can be an issue; especially when
its being stored in a third-party location. Although this is an issue many believe that the data in
the cloud are safer because they are supervised by specialized expertise.
Cloud computing began from small email storage to the beginning of whole
infrastructures with the capability to run programs and services with just the touch of a button.
Its somewhere floating in the clouds; information flowing around the world in the blink of an
eye. There is no need for physical storage when there is available storage in the cloud.
