at the same time basic need of the oppressed class. This promotes unfairness in a class of

2. It strikes me the most when Kaufman points out that this is all the scheme of capitalists. These
people separated white working class people from people of color, put them under the false
sense of superior and created a meaningless connection between the white of different classes.
This breaks the unity of the working class.
The capitalists made white working class forget who they really share interest with. The US
politicians tried their best to put hatred and contempt toward working people of different
ethnicity into white working class heads. Without realizing it, they were pushing themselves
into the mud: Political controls which re aimed primarily at the disenfranchisement of the
Negro have also resulted in depriving the mass of the poor whites of their right to a ballot. They
were taking away their own rights. In that specific case, they covered up the economic hardship
by poor strategic decisions by leading the blame to the Asian immigrant wave.

Also, the example about gender surprises me: Paid domestic work rarely ends up being
counted in the official economy as productive labor because much of it isnt taxed, and
therefore isnt tallied by government institutions. This informal labor is thus done without the
basic protections that have come to be associated with capitalist labor relations, such as time off,
health benefits, and the like. The capitalist system, operated by the owning class, was blatantly
victimizing women. Especially for the working class, where the men have to work hard to make
ends meet, all the responsibility at home weighted on womens shoulders. However, they dont
get credit for what they do, and the owning system only pays for those who do formal work,
here is the man. It means that no matter how hard the women work, family resources still relied
on mens scarce income.

b. She suggested that unity and the development of class consciousness are. To do this,
Kaufman suggested, we need to focus not only on our shared interest but also our differences.
From that point, we understand the oppressions and struggles each of us have in life and realize
how they are connected. This would be the start for a revolution. Without it, the foundational
cause would never be complete: If we dont, then the unity we create will most likely reflect
the interests of members of more privileged group.

types: economic, social, and intellectual or cultural. What one owns or earns determines ones
economic capital. On the other hand, we have social capital means what it mean to be in a social
context, from college education to networks that can ensure ones position in the class. Finally,
intellectual and cultural capitals mean knowledge as well as behavior of sophistication.
