Back to School for the Students of our Sunday Arabic School
10:30am: For the intentions of all our students. Blessings of the
Backpacks
12:30pm: Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
Mass celebrated by General Assistant Father Maroun Bou Rahal,
and General Secretary Father Walid El Khoury from the Maronite
Antonine Order.
After the mass, Father Youssef Chedid will be officially proclaimed
as Superior of Antonine Mission in Canada and superior of the
Our Lady of Lebanon Antonine Monastery in Toronto. He will be
receiving this responsibility from Father Maroun Abou Jaoude who
was in charge for the last three years. We welcome also Father Elie
Abou Assaf the new associate Pastor.
4:00pm: Mass for the souls of the Martyrs of the Lebanese
Resistance offered by the Lebanese Forces Toronto Chapter.
A mercy meal will follow in the Church hall.

Feast of the Elevation of the Cross on Saturday Sep 20

from 11 am till midnight. Mass at 7 pm followed by candlelight
procession with the Cross.

Your blessings Father
Brothers and sisters, The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the
wisdom of the wise, and the learning of the learned I will set aside." Where is the wise one?
Where is the scribe?
Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of the world foolish? For
since in the wisdom of God the world did not come to know God through wisdom, it was
the will of God through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those who have faith.
For Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we proclaim Christ crucified, a
stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those who are called, Jews and
Greeks alike, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God
is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
Praise be to God always.

those who had come up to worship at
the feast. They came to Philip, who was
from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked
him, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus."
Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew
and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus
answered them, "The hour has come for
the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen,
amen, I say to you, unless a grain of
wheat falls to the ground and dies, it
remains just a grain of wheat; but if it
dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever
loves his life loses it, and whoever hates
his life in this world will preserve it for
eternal life. Whoever serves me must
follow me, and where I am, there also will
my servant be. The Father will honor
whoever serves me. "I am troubled now.
Yet what should I say? 'Father, save me
from this hour'? But it was for this
purpose that I came to this hour. Father,
glorify your name." Then a voice came
from heaven, "I have glorified it and will
glorify it again." The crowd there heard it
and said it was thunder; but others said,
"An angel has spoken to him." Jesus
answered and said, "This voice did not
come for my sake but for yours. Now is
the time of judgment on this world; now
the ruler of this world will be driven out.
And when I am lifted up from the earth,
I will draw everyone to myself." This is
the truth. Peace be with you.

Three year ago, Father Maroun and Father Youssef came to our parish to serve all the
faithful and keep the link to Lebanon alive within the people. This year, due to the monastic
reassignment, Father Maroun Abou Jaoude is leaving us for another commitment in
Lebanon. He is transeferring the responsibility to Father Youssef Chedid who will become
the Superior of the Antonine Mission in Canada, Superior of Our Lady of Lebanon
Monastery and Pastor of Our Lady of Lebanon Parish. He will be helped by Father Elie
Abou Assaf whom we are welcoming in our church today.
May God help us grow together in our community and bless Father Maroun in his new
assignment.
