I. INTRODUCTION

VISION

The AMAES Library envisions itself to be a globally recognized state-of-the-art
library and network system providing timely, efficient and user-friendly data and
information to library users.

MISSION

The AMAES Library supports the research and instructional needs of AMAES its
faculty, staff, students and other external clientele, by providing information and
service through sufficient and updated collection of both print and non-print
materials and resources as well as access to these via electronic means and
interlibrary loans.
OBJECTIVES
1. To select, acquire and develop an extensive and relevant collection of print and
non-print materials that support the instructional and research programs and thrusts
of the College.
2. To make available to the students, staff and other clientele, library materials and
services that will supplement their course needs and requirements.
3. To make the library a venue that supports and promotes lifelong learning.


II. THE LIBRARY
LOCATION
The college library is housed at the 2nd floor of the campus.

Mondays to Fridays
8:00am 5:45pm

Breaktime Schedule
10:00am 10:20am
3:00pm 3:20pm

The library is closed on Weekends and Holidays.

LIBRARY USERS
A. Regular Users
1. Enrolled bonafide AMAES students.
2. Academic/Faculty members
3. AMAES administrative and non-academic/personnel.

B. Other Users
1. AMAES Alumni upon presentation of AMAES Alumni ID.
2. Students/employees from other schools/institutions with a referral letter form their
respective librarian/authorized company representative.

Note: Students from other AMAES branch/campus must still secure a referral letter
from their respective branch/campus librarians.

LIBRARY SECURITY CONTROL
1. Users entering the library are required to deposit their personal belongings (bags,
envelopes, packages, briefcases at the Depository Area.
2. Unclaimed items at the Depository Area shall be turned to the Office of the Student
Affairs for proper disposition.
3. Students should sign the statistics with their full name, time in, course and signature
every after break time.


III. LIBRARY SERVICES
A. LIBRARY CARD
Only students with library card on the current trimester and properly validated can
avail the use of resources/services.
Procedure in Issuing:
1. Library Card and Student Information Card should be filled up by the student
applicant.
Requirements:
New applicant:
Universal Student Number (USN)
2 copies of 1x1 colored picture
Certificate of Registration (COR)
Renewal:
Universal Student Number (USN)
Certificate of Registration (COR)

B. General Policies
1. Students are required to register every term upon presentation of COR and Official
Campus I.D.
2. The library card is required in borrowing library books/collections.
3. Mispresentation of library card by showing someone elses library card is an offense.

Students/researchers from other school/office:

Provincial 30.00php
Replacement of Lost Library Card 10.50php


IV. COURTESY IN THE LIBRARY
o Observe silence. Idle conversations, loud laughter and other unnecessary noise must
be avoided.
o In order not to annoy other library patrons, activities such as eating & doing industrial
work are prohibited.
o Keep the library clean. Dont litter on the floor or table. Wastebaskets are provide for
the purpose.
o Keep things in order. Push your chair back against the table when you leave the
library.
o Smoking & eating inside the library are strictly prohibited.
o Vandalism on any library materials must be avoided.
o Handle books and other reading materials with care.

V. LIBRARY COLLECTIONS
ARRANGEMENT:
1. Library of Congress Classification Systemuses an alphanumeric system of
classification to categorize and describe books.
Circulation, Reserve & Filipiniana
2. Accession Numberarranged in chronological order.
Narrative Report, Theses, Design Project and Feasibility Study
3. Alphabeticallyarranged in alphabetical order.
Scholarly journals, magazines, newsletters, government publication, reports and
invitations.

ACCESS
1. OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)
key to the library collections. It contains all the bibliographic information of all the
library collections in the library. It can be accessed by visiting
http://opacgateway.amaes.edu.ph

Searching the OPAC:
a. Choose from: Author, Title, Subject or Publisher.
b. Type your search terms in the text box.
c. Press Enter or click Search).

Online Library Card it can be accessed by visiting http://opac.amaes.edu.ph

2. Card Catalog a manual retrieval system of all the library collections which are
searchable by author, title and subject.

VI. LIBRARY SECTIONS
1. CIRCULATION supplemental reading materials (mostly foreign books; books
related to BSIT, BSCS, BSIS & BSCOE, etc.) ;
2. RESERVE reading materials for courses offered during the trimester. (Mostly
textbooks & workbooks)
3. FILIPINIANA books about the Philippines, written by Filipino authors and published
in the Philippines. (e.g. Phil. Constitution, Phil. Literature, etc.)
4. REFERENCE books that are meant to provide quick and accessible information on
any particular topic. (e.g. dictionary, encyclopedia, almanac, etc.)
5. PERIODICAL this section houses newspapers, scholarly journals, magazines,
newsletters, government publication, reports and invitations.
6. RESEARCH WORKS
Documents submitted in support of candidature of an academic degree presenting
the authors narration, research and findings.

c) DESIGN PROJECT FEASIBILITY STUDY
d) FEASIBILITY STUDY
7. INTERNET SECTION computers with internet access are available for students
research purposes only.
8. IPAD SECTION iPads with internet access are available for students research
purposes only; It provides online internet resources such as e-books.

VII. BORROWING AND RETURNING
A.Borrowing privileges and Loan periods
1. Circulation, Reserve and Filipiniana books may be taken out for overnight use
and to be returned within the next three (3) days.
2. Students may borrow a maximum of three (3) books of different subjects
overnight. Each book may be renewed if such library book not in demand.
3. Faculty is allowed to borrow at most five (5) books.
4. All books and textbooks stamped with LIBRARY USE ONLY are strictly to be
used within the library premises only.
5. A fiction book may be borrowed for five (5) days and is subject for renewal if it
is not in demand.
6. General Reference books, theses, narrative reports/OJT, newspapers,
serials/periodicals, vertical files and rare collections are restricted to room-use only.
7. Non-book materials such as maps, globes, pictures, vertical files and
newspaper may be borrowed for classroom use upon arrangement with the
librarian.
8. A student who wishes to borrow a non-book material for classroom use must
present a written request approved by the teacher concerned. The request should
indicate the time and the date needed, classroom, subject and the name of
teacher. The student has to leave his/her library card together with the request and
he/she has to sign the book card.
9. Books can only be renewed when presented to the Librarian for proper
recording.
10. No one is allowed to borrow a book on behalf of another person.
11. One week before the final examination, books and other library materials will no
longer be allowed for home use.

B. Returning of Books
1. A book should be returned promptly on due date and time.
2. Upon returning the book materials, students should see to it that their library
cards are properly signed by the librarian or library staff who received the
book(s).
3. Faculty/students should notify the library staff whenever borrowed library material
is lost.
4. Overdue notices will be sent as a reminder to faculty members.

C. Library Fines
1. Materials that returned late are subject to the following OVERDUE FINES:
a. Books borrowed for overnight, fine is five pesos (5.00) per day.
b. Books borrowed for photocopy, classroom use and not returned on
time - 10.50
c. Overdue fine is discontinued upon report of lost of the book borrowed.
d. Replacement of the book should be made within two (2) weeks. After
two(2) weeks and no replacement was made, the fine will be reinstated.
2. Borrowers with overdue books or with standing obligation to the library will not be
allowed to borrow unless all library accounts are settled.
D. Lost and Damaged Library Materials
1. Any lost or damaged material must be reported immediately to the librarian and
replaced with the latest edition of the same title of the book not later than two (2)
weeks.
2. Books returned with missing or damages pages will be the responsibility of the
last borrower.
3. Accumulated overdue fines will be also imposed.

E. Suspension of Library Privileges
1. Lending of library card to another person.
2. Taking out any library material without the permission of the Librarian.
3. Tearing, writing on the pages of the book, defacing or any form of vandalism.
4. Forging the signature of the library staff.
5. Discourtesy, misconduct or any misdemeanor towards the library staff.
