COURSE OVERVIEW
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide the student with advanced OS/390 (MVS) JCL
techniques. Advanced JCL syntax will be reviewed, Proc coding, JCL efficiencies,
MVS concepts, DASD concepts, catalog management and MVS utilities will be
reviewed.
COURSE DURATION:
2 Days - This is a lecture and hands-on workshop class.
COURSE PREREQUISITES:
Student should be familiar with TSO/ISPF and basic JCL syntax and usage before
taking this class.
COURSE MATERIALS:
Class notes will be provided.
Each student will receive a copy of System 370/390 JCL, Gary DeWard Brown -
John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Course Objectives:
Through the extensive use of workshops and exercises the student will be able to code
JCL using some of the more advanced syntax. The student will be familiar with the
coding and debugging of PROCS including symbolic substitution and overrides. The
student will have a good understanding of basic MVS concepts, DASD management,
MVS Utilities, Abend determination and common shop JCL standards.
