person I "et was this +nglish gu%' ,avid' who
was extre"el% pleasant. He was reall%
interested in knowing where I ca"e #ro"' and
what I was doing at Surre% -ni. He was doing
his Ph, in .echanical +ngineering. He then
showed "e round the two/#loor house and
introduced "e to the rest o# the students I was to share the house with #or
the next six "onths.
!irst was 0i1a%' an Indian girl' undertaking a .asters degree in Ps%cholog%.
I think that was the #irst ti"e I saw a piercing on so"eone. I "ust ad"it it
shocked "e2
3ext was Isa' #ro" Palestine' the gu% who I eventuall% got on with the best.
He had an excellent sense o# hu"our' and was reall% grate#ul to Spain #or
alwa%s supporting the Palestinian cause. He was doing a Ph, on
engineering o# so"e kind.
(nd the last gu%' to be honest' I cant re"e"ber his na"e4 all I re"e"ber
about hi" is that he was 5hai and he alwa%s had so"ething boiling on the
cooker.
5he kitchen was e6uipped with a cooker' #ridge' #reeer' "icrowave' kettle'
toaster' iron and ironing board but we had to bring our own plates' cutler%'
pans' etc. (ll the roo"s had personal belongings insurance included in the
rent. 7oo"s were #urnished with a bed' desk and chair' reading la"p'
bookshelves and wardrobe. 5here was also a television roo". 5he shared
kitchen' showers and toilets were cleaned once a week. 5here was a
reception building where residents collected roo" ke%s and "ail.
