This week we are learning:
Family
Circle Time e!iew

This week we will start to look at our
days of the week board to introduce
something new into our daily morning
routine. The children will learn the days
of the week and then start to identify
what day it is each morning and stick the
arrow up onto the correct day.
We will be reviewing any of the animals
that are not as well-known from the
previous two weeks to clarify them.
Once the animals are identified, we will
play a few games such as fly swat to test
and remember.

This week we will be making some beautiful other&s day cards. The children will have a
couple of choices of pictures and methods of decoration so as to put their own style into it.
The vocabulary will be referred to through flashcards, games and a video clip about the'
finger family'. %fter watching the video the children will be making their own finger family
puppets to use in class.
We will use the family photos to talk about our own family and practice all the different
vocabulary words with the real people in mind. The children will be able to show and tell
everybody, about who is in their picture.

There will be no new letter sounds this week .We will be looking to learn the letters from
phases one and then two, away from the )olly phonics aids. This will enable the children
to recognise the letters in their sole form.
e!iew
%lthough we are moving on from the *olly
+honics letter flashcards as far as letter
recognition is concerned, the children will
still be able to refer back to )olly phonics
as an aid with the trickier letters and as a
fun theme for learning. #n order to make
this easy and accessible, the children will
all help to colour each of the letters and
also practice writing them out. Once all are
complete, they will be laminated for
display in the classroom.
%ll the games that we play this week
will only use letters in their individual
form. We will refer to the )olly phonics
actions and songs to help with
recognition.
% new game will involve the children
writing on the board over the dots to
write out the correct letter called out.
They will have a choice of three to
choose from.

We will begin to send home the
second phonics writing practice
workbook. The children are used to
the format of this book as they have
completed them before. This book
covers the second phase of *olly
+honics sounds and helps the children
develop hand strength as well as
practice writing the letters which they
have learnt in phonics.
