The potential audience of the station is approximately 750,000 "bat it is directed specifically at the two coal mining cities in eur area with a population of more than 150,000. We are excited about this new opportunity. Until now this was not a poasibUity in our aegion because of restrictive rules. Please pray wi'Ui us that the Lord will bless this new seed planUng effort. The programs are paid for by the Christians here. iQue Dies les bendigaS May God bless you. In His Sesyj.ce, Avda. Jo8$ Antonio, 38 2 dcha. Our regular Prayer Partners as well as other concerned Christians have been praying for nearly five^\ years that these permits would be granted by the gov^^ emment of Spain, We had applied for these permits as often as we were /'flowed to do so, but each time our application was re- jected, In^J)ct^^ of last year, we were permitted to apply once again. The answer was seven months in coming, but oh, how grateful we were to receive an af firmative response, /'^With the grainting of these permits, we are no longer /f *<ii-aiiii>'iiii iiiiiH^i I ^^onsidered ^ tourists, but rather, we have ^1 of ^^rigj^_^d protection of the new Spanish Constitu- Ipn, This is a big stei) forward as now I will be al- }lowed to sign legal contracts, solicit necessary legsil permits for the congregation and may legally partici pate in public meetings. We do Praise the Lord for this and are grateful for all of those who have prayed so long concerning these permits. ROLAND FAMILY MOVES Before leaving Spain on Furlough, Paul and Helen Roland along Hith Kathy and I prayerfully planned out a series of goals for the work in Spain which were subsequently ap proved by the overseeing Elderships of each family, ^Goal number,, one^eads I "The Roland family will be setti^d^n SBttheriT^pain by September 1, 1979." Even as late as mid- July the prospects of fulfilling this goal looked bleak as sufficient funds were not available for their move. But, once again our Heavenly Father provided; The overseeing Elders of the Roland family in Paoli, Indiana, stepped out in faith and made the relocation of the Rolands possible. On September 1st the Rolands moved their household items to the city of Oviedo (about 12 miles from Hieres), They are still not completely settled ais they lack a good defiG. of furniture, but both families are happy to be so close to each other. Already we have seen some of the benefits of being able to work together. NoteI A list of the goals wis included in the Semiannual Report sent to all regular contribu tors, Extra copies are available upon request, fc# W W W EVANGELISTIC CALLING One of the important facets of the work in Mieres is to gain a hearing for our tes timony, In the paat we have used public meetings, tract distribution, a book table at the market place, movies and of course we continue to witness to personal con tacts and through the week ly radio broadcasts. Since returning from furlough, IPaul and I have begun using ' a religious survey. Using this method we can ask the people questions about their beliefs and at the same time have a good open ing to share what the Bible has to say and thus give a testimony. At each dwelling we leave a gospel tract and a gospel according to John if they have answered the survey questions. Thus far most of the people answer ing the survey have sisked for a copy of the results which will give us another opportunity to visit them in a few months. Four peo ple have taken the first lesson of a correspondence course. Pray with us that our opportunities for this type of witness will in crease and that they will bear fruit. Pray for those that have taken a corres pondence course. AROUND THE HOME We all have heard the saying, "There's Nothing like Home Sweet Home," How true that saying. It was a joy to at last be b^^e again after l]l^^ and re porting in tKlB U. S, Even "the children were very glad to be in their home and return to a more settled life-style. Though being home is great, it was difficult to say "good-by for now" to our families and the many, many friends idio received us so graciously during our furlough. We want to say Thank You All Very Much for opening your homes and your hearts to us. We have many fond memories of you and thank the Lord for each of you. One of the biggest blessings to us during those eleven weeks of furlough, was meeting Christian brothers and sis ters every where we went. It was so different from what we find here in Spain where Christians are very few in number one ^jLy^Qng^tr,,^esjt). Our hearts were thrilled ^cT^e taXKlin^ to store clerks, fellow cus tomers in restaurants, etc. and find out that they too knew the Lord as their Saviour. What a blessing to have such fellowship in every church we attended and to share victories and trieds with our Christian friends. Thank You Lord for the Family of God. Nathsin and Alisa are attending school in Oviedo this year, Oviedo is the capital of our province and thus much larger than Mieres, It is 12 miles away. We ask for your daily prayers for Nathan and Alisa because they have a long day with a lot of traveling. They leave home at 9*00 a.m. and return between 6i30 and 7:00 p.m. The school seems to be much better than where they attended Isist year and both the children really enjoy it, ***** * * * ***** PRAISE GOD FOR THE GLEN ELLYN RT.nRRRHTP Yes, we do Praise God for the Elders of the Glen Ellyn Church. They have faithfully provided the Administrative Support of the work for sevea^ years, nearly a full year and a half before we even left the U.S. to come to Spain. Some of the Elders have changed over the years but the Eldership has remained steadfast in their committment to the work in Spain, lliese dedicated men have spent innumer able hours praying for the work, discussing new situations, reading correspondence from the field, corresponding with us,giving needed advice, approving decisions and financial expenditures in other words giving real oversight, In\|/^ all of this the Elders and the entire Glen Ellyn Church J have been faithful co-laborers in the work in Spain, PRAYER CLOSET Praise God for the granting of the Residence Permits. for the new contacts made through the religious survey, fteise^Qod for the openness of the people to answer the re ligious survey, Erajc that the Lord will give us boldness in witnessing. Praise God that the Roland family was able to move from Madrid to Oviedo to help in the work in Mieres, pray for Jon Paul Roland as well as Nathan and Alisa that the Lord will keep them safe as they "bravel to and from school and that they will learn well in this new school. Praise God for the Glen Ellyn Eldership and for their willingness to participate in the work in Spain, Erax that the Lord will grant us a bullding^''ln Mieres for the church and as an Evangelistic Center, Praise God for our safe travel during furlough. Praise God that the car we purchased for use on furlough was sold even before we left the U.S. Praise God for continually supplying our every"n^d. ^acLs Sftain % First Christian Church 25 W. 171 Geneva Road Glen Ellyn.
