about southshore
Southshore recognizes that students today face a number
of serious challenges including environmental degradation,
economic uncertainty and a social crisis emerging from the
expanding gulf between the rich and the poor. The school
believes that academic excellence alone will not prepare them
for the world they will inherit.
Therefore, Southshores goal is to provide its students with
a rigorous academic curriculum supported by a variety of
structured learning experiences. The Southshore programme is
designed to prepare its students for success in institutions of
higher learning and to give them the drive and ability to make a
contribution to the society they live in.
Southshore achieves these goals by offering a wide range
of University of Cambridge A Level courses in the physical
sciences, social sciences, humanities and in the field of
commerce. It also offers seminars, learning modules, foreign
languages and internship programmes to extend students
thinking and confront issues in community and social
development. Southshores learning modules require students
to explore the world around them while expanding the range of
their own interests.

Southshore was founded in 2004 as a joint venture between
three leading educational institutions. Each of these schools
has contributed its own distinctive element to create an
institution with a unique character and mission.
Bay View Academy
Bay View Academy is a private, coeducational school from
Pre-school to O Level. Founded in 1990, it is a college
preparatory school that offers a state of the art campus with
two computer labs, libraries and a multipurpose science
laboratory. The school offers a range of extracurricular activities
with an emphasis on sports, drama and debate. Local, national
and international field trips at different grade levels facilitate the
holistic growth of its students.
The C.A.S. School
Founded in 1981, The C.A.S. School offers a 14 year
programme, from Playgroup to O Level. The school looks
at objectives of schooling beyond good grades and narrow
academic pursuits, and emphasizes involving students outside
the classroom in community development programmes and
intellectual pursuits. It offers seminars, foreign languages,
learning modules (rowing, golf, horse-riding, violin, classical
dance, photography, journalism, etc) and teaching internships.
Froebel Education Centre
Froebel Education Centre was founded in 1982 on the
principles established by the German educationalist and
philosopher Friedrich Froebel. It has steadily grown into a
recognized educational institution that offers classes from
Nursery to
O Level. The school is set in spacious grounds in DHA
Phase 8, housing two independent libraries, art and craft
rooms, auditoriums, and computer and science laboratories for
each of the different levels. F.E.C. provides an atmosphere that
challenges young minds and encourages students to develop
their strengths and life-skills.

ISEO
Initiated in the year 2000 and organized annually by Karachi High
School, the International Schools Educational Olympiad (ISEO)
brings together students from schools all across Pakistan and
abroad to participate in competitions that cover a broad spectrum
of intellectual and academic activity. At this forum, students not
only compete but also exchange ideas and knowledge, thus
encouraging intellectual growth and collective learning.
Southshore students have been leading participants at the
ISEO and have showcased their talent by winning in a number
of events such as debate, photography, film-making and the art
competition.
LUMUN
Each year, Southshore sends a team to Lahore to participate
in the Lahore University of Management Sciences Model
UN (LUMUN). Delegates assume the role of ambassadors
of various countries of the world, debating crucial issues of
global concern. In the process, delegates produce standard UN
format resolutions that present practical solutions of pressing

counselling
From the moment they enroll at Southshore, all students
are provided with a counsellor, who works with students
to determine the subjects they take for A Level, provides
academic and personal counselling, helps plan their future
course of studies, and assists students with whatever else they
may need during their stay at Southshore.
Students who are assigned counsellors may make an
appointment to see them on any issue, ranging from career
counselling to personal problems.

university
admissions
It is usually assumed that good grades are a guarantee of
admission to good universities in Pakistan and abroad. While
this may partly be true, the reality is that grades form only one
of many factors considered by these institutions. Those who
are well rounded in their achievements will be more successful
than those who simply project grades as their strength.
Leadership, community service, intellectual pursuits and sports
help set high achievers apart from the grade-getters.
Think about why some of the good universities interview
students for admission after they have successfully met their
academic requirements. Only then does the need to focus
beyond simply excelling in the classroom becomes clear.
Therefore, students at Southshore must be aware that while
they focus on their core subjects, they must broaden their
intellectual horizons by taking seminars, learning modules,
a foreign language, and participating in sports and other
school activities.
The college counselling team works with students to help them
select and apply to universities suitable for their needs:
