[Problem Description]
Trigger condition:
If the clock source traced by the OptiX NG-SDH NE fails to meet the ITU-T G.813 standard, services
may be interrupted or packets may be lost on SSN1EMS2, SSN5EFS0, SSN1EFS0A, SSN3EFS4,
SSN3EGS2, and SSN2EGT2 boards.
Fault symptom:
1. Services are interrupted or packets are lost in the both directions on the boards.
2. The T_LOSEX, LP_SLM_VC3, TU_AIS_VC3, B3_SD_VC3, LP_REI_VC3, ALM_GFP_dLFD,
and TU_LOP_VC3 alarms are continually or transiently and repeatedly reported on the boards.
3. The B3_SD_VC3, LP_REI_VC3, ALM_GFP_dLFD, TU_AIS_VC3, LP_RDI_VC3, and
LP_UNEQ_VC3 alarms are continually or transiently and repeatedly reported on the peer data
processing boards.
4. The problem cannot be solved by warm/cold resetting, removing, replacing, and re-powering on
the boards.
Identification method:
1. Check whether the PCB name of the board is SSN5EFS0.
2. Set the locked mode of the NE to free-run mode, or set the locked mode of the NE to free-run
mode and switch cross-connect boards. The problem is solved. Recover the locked mode of the NE
or recover the locked mode of the NE and switch connections. The problem occurs again.
3. Warm/Cold reset, remove, replace, and re-power on the boards, the problem persists.

[Root Cause]
When the clock source traced by the OptiX NG-SDH NE fails to meet the ITU-T G.813 standard, the
clock jitters of SSN1EMS2, SSN5EFS0, SSN1EFS0A, SSN3EFS4, SSN3EGS2, and SSN2EGT2
boards are so severe that the phase noise of the serdes module reference clock of the SD598 chip does
not meet the corresponding specifications. Therefore, services are interrupted or packets are lost due to
the exception in the serdes module.

When the clock source traced by the NE meets the ITU-T G.813 standard, there is no risk.

When the clock source traced by the NE fails to meet the ITU-T G.813 standard, there are
relatively low risks on the SSN1EMS2, SSN5EFS0, SSN1EFS0A, SSN3EFS4, SSN3EGS2, and
SSN2EGT2 boards.
Measures and Solutions
Recovery measures:
1. Replace the boards with other data processing boards such as SSN1EMS4.
2. Change the locked mode of the OptiX NG-SDH NE to the free-run mode.
Workarounds:
Adjust the clock tracing path of the OptiX NG-SDH NE to prevent that the clock quality fails to meet
the ITU-T G.813 standard.
Solutions:
Ensure that the clock source traced by the NE meets the ITU-T G.813 standard.
