International Go-Kart Championship 2013-14


The Virtual IGC is a prequalifier to participate in International Go-Kart
Championship 2013-14. The objectives of the International Go-Kart Championship
2013-14 are as follows:
1. To acquaint the teams completely with the objectives of the IGC 2013-14.
2. The teams are required to acquaint themselves with the technical guidelines
and limits for the design of KART.
3. To design the complete CAD Model of the KART. The design should be
complete in all respects to the extent of being considered readyformanufacture.

a. The teams would be judged on the following basis:
1. Knowledge of rulebook
2. Project Plan
3. Design
1. Extent of completion of vehicle design
2. Design Methodology
b. Materials Used
c. Compliance with rulebook
d. Finite Element Analysis
1. PreProcessing (framing the parameters, constraints, loads, etc.)
2. PostProcessing (result analysis, changes in design, etc.)
e. Human Ergonomics
f. Suspension, Steering & Brakes
1. Chosen configuration (Disc, drum brakes, type of suspension, steering
geometry, etc.)
2. Specifications (stopping distance, suspension travel, tierod length, turning
radius, caster, camber, toe in, toe out , braking effort, pedal force, etc.)

g. Brake Design (braking effort, braking circuit, brake mounting, etc.)

h. Steering Design (geometry, turning radius, power assistance etc.)

i. Power train
1. Engine (engine spec, mounting, emission control, intake, exhaust design,
fuel system, fuel lines, transmission coupling etc.)
2. Transmission (chosen configuration, engine coupling, max speed, traction,
Power, acceleration, final drive to wheels, wheel size, joints, etc.)

j. Wheel Size (wheel mounting, joint with final drive, etc)

k. Body & Electricals
1. Weight (target)
2. Electrical System (safety, battery placement, kill switch, routing etc.)

The qualified teams would be required to submit the design report soon after the
Virtual IGC event. The design presented during the event shall be considered as
final and the team shall be considered to proceed towards fabrication activity using
the same design. Failing this, the teams shall be penalized /disqualified if the
fabricated vehicle does not exhibit correlation with the design report or if the teams
Fail to fabricate within the stipulated timeframe.

Note: The Virtual IGC is a prequalifier; marks obtained in Virtual IGC will be
added with Dynamic Event Score to make final result.

Structure of Presentation: (Slide Sequence)

1) Preliminary Technical Specifications & Overall Performance Targets. 2D / 3D
views of the proposed Go-Kart design.
2) Knowledge of rulebook Main dimensions/structural and safety requirements /
material..
3) Design Methodology, Proposed Engineering process for FEA load cases and
constraints, criteria for Factor of Safety & deformations. Actual FEA results may be
presented but not mandatory.
4) Ergonomics knowledge related to vehicle cock pit lay out Driver seating lay
out, ease of egress, vision and controls.
5) Steering - Design Methodology & considerations for selection of steering ,
turning circle etc.
6) Brakes - Design Methodology & considerations for brakes type selection, brake
circuit lay out/actuation, Dynamic Load Transfer, Stopping distance, deceleration,
pedal effort etc.
7) Power train (Engine to wheel including tyres) & mounting / packaging
considerations, Vehicle performance prediction e.g. Vehicle speed, Acceleration,
Maximum Gradient etc.
8) Manufacturing processes required for various important vehicle aggregates,
machine tools/hand tools and other facilities required. Facilities available in the
college workshop.
9) One page important technical parts list for the vehicle. Overall weight and cost
elements/ estimates and financing for the project.
10) Team size, Responsibilities assigned, Project Plan
11) Design verification/Quality process
12) Validation procedure (Road Tests etc. ) including Validation test schedule and
Innovation

NOTE: Only 4 members will be allowed in Presentation Hall.

All teams must carry the following things and produce them at the time of their
registration:

1) College ID Card
2) Pass out student Xerox of Mark sheet for each member appearing for Virtual.
4) An MS Excel Sheet stating the names of the team members the way they want
it on the certificates.



Its a humble request to the teams to kindly come to the venue in strictly
accordance to their respective slots as allotted.
Please make sure that you conform to all the above mentioned rules and
regulations.
Non Compliance will lead to unwanted actions, including disqualification.

Teams are required to send the hard copy of Registration Form (with payment slip,
driving license photocopy) as scanned copy which was previously sent. Last Date
for submitting the hard copy is 15
th
September, 2013.
Virtual Team ID will be allotted after receiving the hard copies of document
mentioned above. Failure in submitting the form will let to direct disqualification.
