Mapping of active During initial survey of the proposed project
CBOs/NGOs in the area, it was a mandate given to NGO Prerana
project area. to identify such active CBOs/NGOs in those
targeted five wards, who can become caterer
of DTDC services in longer run. It was
observed by the NGO and our health
department that existing NGOs/RWAs/CBOs
are found to be of different natures like some
were religious, cultural, and of being of
specific objectives far from what we intended
to do with them, above these they found
reluctant to take up the DTDC activity. So
after an exhaustive consultation on this issue
and to ensure better results we decided to
form new RWAs, entrusting them to carry out
this activity with the community by providing
them a proper capacity building mechanism.

Formation of At the time of cooperation agreement, an

proposed100 RWAs estimated figure was provided by JMC, that
and the target of entailed of 20,000 HH, covering population of
covering 20,000 approx. 100,000. However as the outcome of
Households the survey, which was done as the first step to
identify ultimate stakeholders, revealed that a
total no. of 11,772 residential HH in addition
to the 3,624 comercial entities & 979 are the
vacant houses which may be in habitation in
future. Thus a total no. of 16,325 units has
been identified in all the assigned 5 wards to
work with. This covers increased no. of target
population i.e. 77908 (Please refer to the
survey report, already sent to you). Thus the
no. of HH 16,325 & the no. of target
population 77908 is near to the approximation
set as 20,000 HH and 100,000 target
population, at the time of signing cooperation
agreement.

The process of It was proposed that every approx. 200 HH

formation of RWAs will have a RWA and after the mapping of the
area, the wards were divided in to the blocks
to serve the purpose efficiently and total 77
blocks have been identified therefore
considering the no. of HH, suitability of
forming new 77 RWAs was decided. For the
formation of RWAs a number of consultation
programmes had been conducted in their
respective wards. The participation of the
