Comedic chemistry as actors reunite

22 Jump Street (15)
2012 SAW a version of 21 Jump Street,
a hit US show of its time which is most
famous for launching the career of
Johnny Depp.
The movie remake was a big hit and
got great reviews thanks to the chem-
istry and performances of Channing
Tatum and Jonah Hill, who also wrote
the story.
Here they return with an inevitable
sequel, imaginatively titled 22 Jump
Street.
Morton (Hill) and Greg (Tatum) are
back as regular cops, after the success
of 21 Jump Street, a programme where
cops investigated crimes under cover in

high schools.
However after
failing to cap-
ture a drug deal-
er, Ghost (Peter
Stormare), they
are drafted back
into the pro-
gramme, which
has now moved
across the road
to, you guessed it, 22 Jump Street.
This time they have to go under cover
in college, and investigate a new drug
call WHYPHY.
As their boss puts it, essentially they
need to go and do almost exactly what
they did in the last film, but this time in
college not high school.
The inevitable sparring and bromance
between the two ensues, along with
some action sequences and as many
jokes as they can fit in, while firing the
plot along.
Much like its predecessor the film is
surprisingly enjoyable.
This is thanks mainly to the excellent
chemistry between the two leads, who,
despite being better known for lighter
fare like this, have both been develop-
ing a strong body of more serious work,
with Hill having two Academy Award
nominations to his name and Tatum an
early contender for one in the upcoming
Foxcatcher.
It really does go to show that good
comedy acting isnt that easy.
Great fun and very silly.

A BRAND new micro festival
will take place in geodesic
domes at a secret location
near Stroud this summer.
Surround Festival will fea-
ture a range of world class
electronic and live acts,
including festival headlin-
ers Koan Sound. The Bris-
tol duos recent release on
Skrillexs OWSLA label has
gained international atten-
tion from the likes of Rolling
Stone.
Bringing a fusion of Trini-
dadian Soca and Sub Heavy
UK underground to the Sur-
round main stage will be Jus
Now. The dancehall duo are
behind the summer anthem
Tun Up.
The line-up also includes
sets from Bristol grime act,
the Bandulu Gang, Rinse FM
resident and big beat scien-
tist Sam Supplier, Rich Rea-
son, a resident at the Man-
chester Warehouse Project,
Manchester deep dark house
and future garage kings D
Tached.
There will also be a treat for
dub fans on The Roots Radi-
cal sound systemforest stage,
with secret guests headlin-
ing.
Surround Festival takes
place on August 16 and camp-
ing will also be available on
site.
