Discussion with IIT Bombay students: Learning lessons from Amir Khan

It was a great day to witness a big renowned personality - Amir Khan in a big renowned institute - IIT
Bombay! After delivering hit episodes of Satyamev Jayate on air, creating positive impact and awareness
among the societies, many institutes requested Amir Khan to watch an episode with them. Amir, as we
know, is a perfectionist working round the clock. Many were eagerly waiting for his nod for the requests
made. Finally Amir agreed to attend the special screening, organized by IIT Bombay on 23rd March. He
not only watched the episode of his game- changer show Satyamev Jayate but also had a discussion
round with the students. There were around thousand IITians and another thousand (approx.) were the
parents of the students and faculty, students of K.V. School.

As we know that the show Satyamev Jayate revolves around social, political and economical
matters. This show is a dream project of Amir Khan which he wanted to telecast on small screen
so that he could reach the wide audience, also with a view that frequency of reaching this
audience will be more as it is aired on television every week. The issues that he raises on his
show and the way he spreads awareness across the country is commendable. He makes the
audience and viewers think thereby energizing them to make a difference to the society. He has
given a platform to the people to converse with him. Its a good platform to discuss about the
issues that people face. Thereby, this show instills a great amount of motivation amongst the
youngsters and that is why many institutes want to have an episode with him so that they too
can exchange views and learn. While being with IITians, he was asked many questions. He was
much energized to share his knowledge, learnings and was open about what he thinks. When
asked what something every youngster should do, he replied that youngsters are also a part of
democratic system and that they should be aware, conscious & inquisitive about whats
happening around them and take part in decision making. The entire discussion was very
knowledgeable. Youth is the change agent and should take charge of its country by being a
game changer.

Abhyuday is a social event organized by this institute where Amir Khan was invited for the live
screening of the episode on Wealth of the nation. This event had witnessed prominent
speakers. Many esteemed NGOs were a part of this event like Udaan, Asha, Teach for India,
Childline etc. There were competitions related to societal problems where participants came up
with unique solutions. Also there were discussions and presentations by IITians.

The discussion mainly revolved around politics, corruption, democracy, rights and the working
of Amirs project for social cause (Satyamev Jayate). The discussion was very insightful as it
talked about RTI (Right to Information), taxation issues and social audits. Students participated
in the discussion and asked many questions from the guests of the episode. They answered
with precision and clarity. Whilst the discussion, Amir was also participative in his approach and
made sure that each question was attended that too with specificity and promptness. Lastly,
the students of Abhyuday (IIT Bombay) screened a video in the honor of a man who had the
courage to put forth all the issues via television and inspired the youth to have a mission and
vision for India too like they have for themselves. The students of IIT Bombay felt very
motivated with his presence and inspired with the way he is putting efforts to make India what
it is worth of. Amirs date with them was truly a date to remember!

When you dream for yourselves, you should dream about your country also!
