gain another example of a company deciding to side with public opinion, in c

ase affects their product sales, as opposed to supporting their employees who wo
rk hard on aforementioned product and fully investigating what has occurred. In
my opinion this is shameful and I for one will not be purchasing their game, whi
ch is a real disappointment for me because I loved the idea of 'Evolv', truly in
novative, but, that being said I still refuse to purchase any 'Call of Duty' gam
es after the shameful treatment of West and Zampella at the hands of Activision.
Well, that and the fact the current 'Call of Duty' franchise sucks hairy monkey
balls with avengeance.

Why do people feel the need to post their opinions all over the internet abo
ut things that could potentially ruin their career? I mean, was defending somebo
dy who will never know you defended them really worth losing your job over? I se
e where he was coming from, and he technically is right, but that doesn't mean y
ou should take to twitter and voice your opinion when nobody asked for it? Not r
eally.
Opinions like this should be kept off the internet.

Typical attitude these days: "If you have a different opinion than me, then
I automatically dislike you."

I can see the point that Olin tried to make, that ultimately the former LA C
lippers owner has his right of free speech, and a right to privacy. Both of whic
h denied to him, in an attempt by his ex girlfriend to expose him? I'm not sure
why, I don't really follow up on this stuff. I suppose that's just how he was br
ought up. Learning how to do good by your fellow man is not as easy as doing evi
l by your fellow man. Back on topic. I think Turtle Rock may have been a bit too
harsh, but its their image they worry about. The community manager is supposed
to be the voice of the development team. If we as gamers saw that he said what h
e said, then the general assumption must be that Turtle Rock must share some sen
timent. Suspension with or without pay may seem more appropriate as Olin sympath
ized with Sterling, but calling him a "victim" whether true or no may have the i
mplied meaning that he fully sides with Sterling even though he states otherwise
. Its not a matter of "public opinion," or who has what right, its just common s
ense. Why do you wish to inspire hatred of any form?

You're missing blu's point. All he's saying is that Josh's getting fired was
preventable were he to keep his opinion to himself. Nobody's saying "nobody sho
uld be allowed to say what they feel," but, rather, that they should know when n
ot to get involved... especially when you're the community manager for a softwar
e development studio.
Sticking your nose into political events - whether or not you're supporting
or chastising the event - is asking for trouble.

If you're in a job where you have to interact with a large audience you have
to be extra careful about the things you say. Perhaps your a community manager,
actor, musician or politician or whatever. You may have strong views, which you
r entitled to have, but when dealing with the masses and representing something
you do have to be incredibly mindful. I've seen many, many careers ruined or gre
atly damaged because people have been careless in their comments.

It's situations like this which make companies wary of social media in gener
al and that annoys me.

It seems to me he wasn't defending the words, rather the right of the bloke
to say them? Not sure that should be a sackable offence.........

He shouldn't have said anything so publicly about someone else. In these sit
uations it is best to keep your mouth shut if you are in a social media position
. Having said that, I don't think he was supporting racism but instead making a
stand against a breach of privacy, although not very well. Unfortunately, we now
live in a time where the public is hypersensitive about racism and will point f
ingers at the smallest little thing. Look at the Jeremy Clarkson scandal that ju
st hit as case and point.
