Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and
works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. It has its own
24x7 radio room.

Highlights:
Supporting Field Security Officer (FSO) & Field Security Assistant (FSA) in developing and
implementing the security plans.
Planning, organizing and facilitating regular meetings (weekly and/or monthly meetings, ad hoc
meetings) with the different stakeholders (UNHCR, WFP, LWF, UNDSS).
Preparing and processing duty log, leave report, overtime log and radio room utility and
maintenance invoices and expenditure records.
Keeping minutes/reports of the meetings and to circulate them among stakeholders.
Maintaining up-to-date work unit files (both paper and electronic).
Logging all business communications and dispatching without delay to the respective security
coordinators whenever there is a need.

The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) was established in January 2005 to
provide security policy and to facilitate security management for all UN operations worldwide.

Highlights:
Wrote monthly reports summarizing all the major security related activities and trainings carried
out.
Monitored and operated emergency communications equipment installed in the radio room.
Liaised with UN agencies operating in the regions to establish contact information database, such as
staff residences, call signs, sel-calls and telephone numbers. Preparing statistical tables and standard
reports.
Warned all UN Personnel in the area of any safety and security related events, incidents, market
situations and road/traffic conditions as required.
