2. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks? My posters layout consists of this layout: This was clearly different to my review. The explanation for this was to differentiate the layouts so the demographic may be intrigued every time they saw the poster and the review. This proved to be successful my peers and teachers gave me back successful comments.
Entrada CAST NAMES
My poster was posted all around my school to promote my film Entrada. This was enormously effective as I observed many people in my school took an interest to this an eventually came to the premiere night. This consistency of design between my poster and ticket was superb as it correlated and complemented each other. The use of black and red created a dark, powerful effect which immediately attracted the human eye. This relates to the film because Entrada was filmed at night which shows the use of black on the poster can merge with the darkness of the woods which are effective and quickly the audience would associate these colours with spookiness and create a trembling feeling. The font I placed on my poster and review were different for numerous reasons and one of these reasons was to show the review was aimed at more serious demographic and therefore had to be presented more formally just like the reviews that I had researched. The big main image on my poster was significantly relevant as it slightly exposed the evil villain which was one of the sections of Vladimir Propp character theory. Therefore by using this appropriate image relates to the film in which there is one scene where the evil villain jumps out and kills Danny. So when looking at the poster it would remind the audiences of THAT specific scene and therefore again creating the genre convention of horror and fear. Although there may not be heaps of writing on my poster it does point out what type of language it addresses the demographic for example the words DEFENCELESS UNDER THE NIGHT are used to describe to the young people that you are DEFENCELESS but in a formal way. However I could of addressed the demographic as you wont be safe as this is more to their wording but DEFENCELESS UNDER THE NIGHT targets the older generation (teachers and staff) as well as the young and also the design of the poster also draws both generations. How does this relate to my film? Well, I thought two opposites make positives and decided to use slangs and street talk in my film, words such as wasteman and instead of what I imposed the question of wah as it is rude and relatable to the youth. This is what made it most successful as well as the poster design but if the demographic can relate to it then the film has a higher chance of being understood, being expected to get the reactions and enjoyed by the demographic which are mainly the youth. So the narrative and context in where speech is spoken must be ideal to target demographic or the interest them just like I have done with my poster and film. Overall I believe it was a successful combination of the poster and my review.
When someone reads a review this decided whether they should go see the film or not. I implemented many key ideas that proved effective in my review so the film would be watched by a lot of people. For example by putting in a lot of picture from key scenes in the film showed the reader many creative camera angles and shots sizes which is useful for the reader and determines if they would watch it or not. One of the phrases in my review was A bit like marmite. This I presume makes the audience laugh and sense that the film is quite humorous. Due to this I considered this is completely true as there are many scenes and aspects within the film which Timmy is funny and gives Cole a lot of stick. This is shown on the premiere night launch of the film in where laughter could be heard from corridors away. Similarly in the review the reason why I have put the sentence about marmite was to change the attitude of the reader at the end and also to again have a larger demographic as these features need to be taken into considerations. The use of questionnaires anonymity was a great way for me to understand constructive criticism and knowing that it was done anonymously allowed me to know that if I knew someone then they would be too nice so knowing that the results are done professionally allowed to concentrate on the parts that were weak and therefore allowing me to make my product better. This again was effective.
