PROFILE

I am currently studying Journalism at Leeds Metropolitan University. My
previous jobs have given me experience in providing excellent customer service
whilst keeping organised in busy environments. I am keen to expand my skills
and knowledge and I am looking for employment opportunities that will further
me in my chosen career as a Journalist. After having an article published in the
Derby Telegraph, making a niche magazine and completing numerous features,
news stories and profiles at University, I really have a taste for Journalism and
believe that I could greatly progress in this field

KEY SKILLS

Effective Communication; through my previous experience, I have developed
strong interpersonal skills and I am able to deal with customer queries efficiently
and confidently. I believe that being friendly is essential in the world of
journalism as this is how you build your contact base. When working at the
Derby Telegraph I ensure that I was well mannered and polite so that I would
meet reliable contacts and receive a good reference.

Organisation; Combining part time work and my degree requires excellent
organisation skills. I have learnt to manage my time and work by keeping to do
lists with dates and deadlines on.

Team Working and Leadership; Group work has been a key element in both
my education and previous employment. I am able to work closely with others
and follow orders, as well as delegate jobs and take charge when needed. When
making a magazine at University, as a group we were able to create a product
that I am extremely proud of. Individually I ensured that everything was being
done on time and in the correct manner. Giving and receiving constructive
criticism was a large part of the group work and it ensured that we had the best
possible outcome.

spent a week at the Derby Telegraph, in this time I followed reporters to both
council and court meetings. At the end of the week I was asked to write an article
covering a competition winner, the article then went on to be published in the
