Cookgas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet

Now you can intubate

through your routine airway.

The Cookgas ® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway

The only airway

you’ll want . . .

. . . the only one

you’ll need!

Dr. Daniel Cook, a practicing anesthesiologist, spent over 8 years developing the patented ILA, an improved supralaryngeal
airway. Placement is easy, air movement is outstanding and intubation, using standard oral endotracheal tubes (OETT’s), is
straightforward and reliable.

• The ILA can be used as your routine airway.

• The ILA allows for Intubation using standard oral endotracheal tubes, (sizes 5.0 - 8.5).

• Clinicians can easily remove the ILA with the ILA Removal Stylet without dislodging the ET tube.

• The ILA is reusable and can be autoclaved up to 40 times.

• The ILA Removal Stylet is reusable up to 10 times. The stylet is not autoclavable.

ILA Removal Stylet

The ILA Removal Stylet is designed for the quick and easy removal of supralaryngeal airways following
oral-tracheal intubation through such devices.

The Stylet was specifically designed to be used in conjunction with the Intubating Laryngeal
Airway (ILA).

With its patented design, the Stylet stabilizes the previously-inserted oral endotracheal tube (OETT),
and allows controlled removal of the ILA without dislodging the OETT from the trachea.

(A.) The taper allows the stylet to accommodate standard OETT’s in multiple sizes (5.0 - 8.5).

(B.) The ridges engage the OETT in a firm, secure grip, giving the user control of the OETT during the
ILA removal process.

(C.) The grooves allow spontaneously breathing patients unimpeded air passage within the OETT
during removal of the ILA.

(D.) The struts allow a more secure grip on the stylet during the rotational movement of insertion.

The reusable ILA Removal Stylet is manufactured with polypropylene for use up to 10 times.

LARYNGOSCOPES 2001 Fiberlight®

A Fiber Optic Laryngoscope Blade That Fits On Your

Standard Handle,
is waterproof, and gives you more light!

The 2001 Fiberlight allows you to mix

Standard and Fiber Optic blades
avoiding handle compatibility issues.

Use your own standard handles with this blade. Save on the cost of
a new one. The engineering in the 2001 FIBERLIGHT ®
Laryngoscope kept the bulb in the blade.

By positioning the light in the bottom of the blade, flickering, cor-

rosion and the possibility of a loose bulb entering the oral airway
has been eliminated.

Equally important, there is no longer a hot bulb in the oral

cavity. Also, the bulb is easily accessible for checking or removal.
Light is located in the
bottom of the blade.

Light Source is now available on the right or left side.

Steri s

When you’re challenged with a difficult intubation,

the new UpsherScope Ultra® can help address the
situation by allowing direct visualization of the airway
through enhanced optics.

With the use of advanced fiber optics and an easy-

to-focus eyepiece, you are able to watch the
endotracheal tube as it passes between the vocal cords.

The new design and superior features of the

UpsherScope Ultra make it the instrument of choice
when faced with a challenging and difficult intubation.

16
LARYNGOSCOPES UpsherScope Ultra®

• The New UpsherScope Ultra provides brilliant fiber optics that provide a clear, direct view of the larynx
throughout an intubation. You can view the tube as it slides between the vocal cords.

• The UpsherScope Ultra also allows you to view the entire procedure on a monitor by using a snap-on camera for
remote viewing. This is excellent for both operating room procedures and for teaching purposes.

• Intubations can be a one-person job because the UpsherScope Ultra combines advanced fiber optic vision and a
tube-guiding blade, all in one instrument.

• The UpsherScope Ultra allows you to insufflate oxygen right down the endotracheal tube. You can inflate the cuff
and test the circuit while the tube is still in the scope.

• The slender profile will help you maneuver even in exceptionally tight spaces. The solid, Stainless Steel
construction provides the rigidity you need to guide the tube exactly where you want it.

• The optional Power Handle allows you to adapt to a fiber optic light source.

•Eyepiece with enhanced optics

also accommodates a television

soaking in betadine, glutaraldehyde or any other solution, the batteries must be REMOVED. If in doubt, remove the batteries.

Mercury/Upsher Blades and Handles

The Upsher Fiber Optic Laryngoscope Blade consists of a metal body and a stainless
steel clad fiber optic light guide. A stainless steel screw fastens the light guide to the
body of the blade. Should you wish to remove the light guide for cleaning, loosen the
screw until you can remove the light guide from the blade. The light guide is composed
of several thousand glass fibers encased in a stainless steel sheath and cemented in
place with a heat-resistant epoxy glue. This construction permits sterilization by
autoclaving, immersion in alcohol, soap, betadine or glutaraldehyde. The light guide
can be sterilized by itself or when attached to the body of the blade.

If the light guide, whether attached to the blade or not, is autoclaved, it should be
allowed to cool at ambient air temperature. Sudden cooling can damage components.
NEVER submerge a hot light guide into a cool liquid, as it will cause a fracture of the
glass fibers due to thermal shock. Before autoclaving, ensure that residues such as
betadine are thoroughly rinsed away.
