CookGas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet
3
Cookgas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet
Dr. Daniel Cook, a practicing anesthesiologist, spent over 8 years developing the patented ILA, an improved supralaryngeal
airway. Placement is easy, air movement is outstanding and intubation, using standard oral endotracheal tubes (OETT’s), is
straightforward and reliable.
• The ILA allows for Intubation using standard oral endotracheal tubes, (sizes 5.0 - 8.5).
• Clinicians can easily remove the ILA with the ILA Removal Stylet without dislodging the ET tube.
• The ILA Removal Stylet is reusable up to 10 times. The stylet is not autoclavable.

CookGas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet
CookGas® ILA™ Intubating Laryngeal Airway and Removal Sylet
The Stylet was specifically designed to be used in conjunction with the Intubating Laryngeal
Airway (ILA).
With its patented design, the Stylet stabilizes the previously-inserted oral endotracheal tube (OETT),
and allows controlled removal of the ILA without dislodging the OETT from the trachea.
Removal Stylet
Tip Diagram
(A.) The taper allows the stylet to accommodate standard OETT’s in multiple sizes (5.0 - 8.5).
(B.) The ridges engage the OETT in a firm, secure grip, giving the user control of the OETT during the
ILA removal process.
(C.) The grooves allow spontaneously breathing patients unimpeded air passage within the OETT
during removal of the ILA.
(D.) The struts allow a more secure grip on the stylet during the rotational movement of insertion.
The reusable ILA Removal Stylet is manufactured with polypropylene for use up to 10 times.

LARYNGOSCOPES UpsherScope Ultra®
16
LARYNGOSCOPES UpsherScope Ultra®
• The New UpsherScope Ultra provides brilliant fiber optics that provide a clear, direct view of the larynx
throughout an intubation. You can view the tube as it slides between the vocal cords.
• The UpsherScope Ultra also allows you to view the entire procedure on a monitor by using a snap-on camera for
remote viewing. This is excellent for both operating room procedures and for teaching purposes.
• Intubations can be a one-person job because the UpsherScope Ultra combines advanced fiber optic vision and a
tube-guiding blade, all in one instrument.
• The UpsherScope Ultra allows you to insufflate oxygen right down the endotracheal tube. You can inflate the cuff
and test the circuit while the tube is still in the scope.
• The slender profile will help you maneuver even in exceptionally tight spaces. The solid, Stainless Steel
construction provides the rigidity you need to guide the tube exactly where you want it.
• The optional Power Handle allows you to adapt to a fiber optic light source.

CARE AND CLEANING OF UpsherScope Ultra® Laryngoscope
2. The UpsherScope Ultra Laryngoscope may be sterilized by Ethylene Oxide (otherwise known as ETO or gas
sterilization), or by an extended period of cold soaking.
Wrap the UpsherScope Ultra Laryngoscope for ETO sterilization according to professional practice standards.
Sterilize in a standard ETO cycle. DO NOT EXCEED 138F, (60C), and 25 PSI.
3. Aerate in a standard aerator.
Upsher PowerHandle
• The PowerHandle may be disinfected with a 2% glutaraldehyde, cold disinfecting solution following the manufacturer’s
recommended procedures.
If the light guide, whether attached to the blade or not, is autoclaved, it should be
allowed to cool at ambient air temperature. Sudden cooling can damage components.
NEVER submerge a hot light guide into a cool liquid, as it will cause a fracture of the
glass fibers due to thermal shock. Before autoclaving, ensure that residues such as
betadine are thoroughly rinsed away.

StatCO2® and Mini StatCO2™ End Tidal CO2 Detectors
The StatCO2 and Mini StatCO2 are fast, durable colorimetric breath indicators
for visualization of exhaled CO2 to assist in verifying proper intubation.
These new StatCO2 End Tidal CO2 Detectors can help clinicians comply with the latest American Heart
Association Guidelines 2000 for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care for
tube placement verification.
According to the AHA Guidelines, “In the opinion of many experts the single most important recommendation
from the Guidelines 2000 is long overdue: emergency responders must confirm tracheal tube position by
using nonphysical examination techniques. These include ... end tidal CO2 indicators.”1

StatCO2® and Mini StatCO2™ End Tidal CO2 Detectors
StatCO2 and Mini StatCo2 are designed to connect between an endotracheal tube and a breathing device.
The patient’s exhalation gas is led through the indicator to detect approximate ranges of end tidal CO2 by color
comparison assisting in the verification of proper tube placement.
