DEVELOPMENT OF B-BOT: THE SECURITY ROBOT ROLANDO B.

BARRAMEDA, MIT ABSTRACT The research project developed the B-bot: The Security Robot. It is a PC-based mechanical robot with fingerprint scanner and handheld metal detector aimed to ensure the safeguard and protection of a place against intruders. The prototype is capable of detecting ferrous and non-ferrous metal objects using metal detector and supported by fingerprint scanner for verification. The system was developed using primarily hardware component such as the PIC16F844 and Z86E08 microcontrollers, gear motors, solenoid enabled barrier, handheld metal detector, and Digital Persona Fingerprint Scanner. The software component was developed using Visual Basic 6.0 and MySQL. Test results show it takes 40 seconds to complete the process from fingerprint recognition to metal detection, and a metal object can be detected depending on its distance from the detector. The system was evaluated by a group of 30 IT experts and Security Personnel using the TUP Evaluation Instrument for Prototypes. The developed system was rated Very Good by the respondents, which proves that the prototype can be implemented for security purposes.

DEVELOPMENT OF AN EINTERACTION QUALITY ASSESSMENT SYSTEM GINA R. CLEMENTE, MIT

ABSTRACT The research project developed an E-Interaction Quality Assessment System. Its main objective is to provide an interactive forum that can generate assessment of student's participation. The system can help students enhance their participation in online discourse and the teacher can easily assess the students message contributions using cosine similarity. The system is capable of posting multiple forums, unlimited topics and messages. The topic discussions can highlight the most recent message and provides message quotation tracking. It can also monitor usage of unfit words, spell check students message contributions and produce printable reports. The system is web based and can be run on any browser that supports Java Virtual Machine (JVM) such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome. The system was developed using tools mainly open source web technologies such as HTTP server, Java Development Tools (JDK and JRE) for the front end and MS Office Access as the backend. Test results showed that all modules are functional based on the design characteristics. The developed system was rated Excellent by the respondents using the TUP Evaluation Instrument for Software Materials. The result of the evaluation showed that the developed software can be used as a tool in educational forum discussion.

DEVELOPMENT OF DATA FLOW DIAGRAM GENERATOR, MELVIN DELOS SANTOS NIPAS, MIT Prof. Julius Sareno, Adviser

ABSTRACT The research project developed a dataflow diagram illustrator software. Its main objective is to present the logical flow of information through a system in a graphical or pictorial form. The developed software has the capability to obtain data, to perform some appropriate process and output the result in a clear image file format. It was also designed to illustrate how information is processed, stored, and how the information flows through the functional transformations. The system software also helps the system designer during initial analysis stages visualize a current system or one that may be necessary to meet the new requirements. The project was developed using Graphic Interface Design for shape manipulation, Joint Photographic Experts Group Format, for image format, Visual Basic 2008, runs with .Net Framework v4. Test results showed that the software met all the required functionalities of the developed application software. The project was evaluated by fifteen (15) IT experts using the ISO9126 software quality model. It was rated excellent by the respondents which proves that the software can be an effective tool in generating dataflow diagram in a clear image format. DEVELOPMENT OF PERFORMANCE SYSTEM FOR CALL CENTER AGENTS JOEL M. EYA, MIT Dr. Nena A. Garino, Adviser ABSTRACT The performance evaluation system for call center agents serves as a software application tool to help call center companies here in the Philippines assess the quality of service being rendered to their clients. The system can evaluate the call center agents after the conversation between the clients and call center agent. Once the client is done with the evaluation, the call center agents can access the results of the evaluation. A calibration module is also included where the call center agent can explain the reason for the scores provided by the clients. The system was developed using Agile Methodology, Hierarchy of InputProcess-Output, Microsoft Visual Basic 6 for the programming side and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 for the database. Performance Evaluation System is a call center software application that can evaluate call center agents and generate reports. Evaluation was conducted with 40 respondents consisting of Call Center Managers, Team Leaders and call center agents who gave an overall rating of excellent.

DEVELOPMENT OF A MOTORCYCLE TRACKING DEVICE USING GSM AND GPS TECHNOLOGIES, by RANDY R. OTERO, MIT Prof. MA. IAN P. DELOS TRINOS, Adviser ABSTRACT The Motorcycle Tracking Device using GSM and GPS was developed for the security and tracking of motorcycle against thieves and intruders. The prototype is capable of remotely starting and stopping the motorcycle engine, locating the whereabouts of the motorcycle, and securing the motorcycle from thieves and intruders with the use of

microcontroller unit, relay, and other modules attached to it. The prototype is mainly composed of three major modules: the accelerometer, Global System for Mobile communication, and Global Positioning System. These modules communicate with the main controller, which sends the signal and processes the instructions with the help of RS232 components and the developed interface program. The prototype was tested for its functionality and reliability in terms of the connection of the tracking device to the mobile phone on different networks. Results showed that the motorcycle owner could send and receive feedbacks from the tracking device in less than 10 seconds time interval, especially if the tracking device and the owner are using the same telecommunication network. Moreover, the motorcycle owner can be notified via GSM call in 6 seconds. The prototype was evaluated to be Excellent with a grand mean of 4.74 signifying that the prototype is effective in terms of tracking and security.
