The choice of The Bar at 316 as an example of a Discourse Community is supported by the fact that it has the characteristics required for being a Discourse Community. Also the specificity of being a gGay and lesbian Bar bar has made the choice more interesting. The question of Gay identity is analyzed as a motivating factor in the choice to be organized as a community. Chapter I. Gay Identity A. Definition and Historyic The fact of being gay, lesbian, or straight constitutes what we call Sexual orientation. It is a part of a persons identity. The American Heritage, Student dictionary, defines a Gay or lesbian as the fact of having sexual orientation to persons of the same sex. (Student dictionary Dictionary2007). Traditionally, people having sexual orientation to persons of different sexstraight, -was the normal conception and acceptance in our society. Being a Gay or Lesbian was an identity to be ashamed of. Forbidden of showing their identity in public, Gay and Lesbian were deprived of their basic right of a freedom of choice; one of the basic Constitutional rights: The right to love the person of your choice, even if that person has the same as you, and the one of being just you. The army did not derogate at that rule under the policy dont ask, dont tell. An official policy of the United statesStates, it was issued by the administration Clinton in February 28, 1994. Simultaneously that this policy protected against the discrimination or harassment of hidden homosexual or bisexual of service members or applicants in the army, it also excepted any openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons from the army (Pub.L. 103160 (10 U.S.C. 654).
Comment [t6]: What do you mean here? Comment [t5]: Where did you get this quote? Last name of author? You need to cite it. Comment [t4]: I dont mind capitalizing Gay or Lesbian, but you should do a search and replace to make sure that all are capitalized because in some instances you are not capitalizing them.

That policy was forcing gay and lesbian individuals to conceal their sexual orientation in the workplace (Everly 407). It means that you cannot show your gay or lesbians identity in the army. It also was sending a message that discrimination was acceptable for gay and lesbian. The message was clear: hide it or be expelled from the army. Many are those who were discharged from the army before that the President Obama, 17 years later, repeals it in September 20, 2011. (New York Times 2011). B. Myth The myth behind that policy was that the openly gay and lesbian would undermine the performance of the military in the work place and would create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of moral, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are essence of military capacity. Claim easily contradicted by two studies that find the opposite effect. Specifically, participants working with openly gay partners performed better on a cognitive task (i.e., a math test) and a sensory-motor task (i.e., a Wii shooting game) than individuals left to wonder about the sexual orientation of their partners (Everly 2007) [to be continue.]
Comment [t8]: This is a quote. You need to put quotation marks and cite the original source or paraphrase it more to not contain so many of the original words. Comment [t7]: Good explanation here

Comment [t9]: Dont get too bogged down in this section. The most important part is your analysis of the bar.

Chapter II The Bar at 316 A. Overview and membership Created twenty years ago, august August 1989, the Bar at The 316 is a gay and lesbian bar located at the 316 Rensselaer Avenue with an objective of having drinks between friends, created creating a friendly conversation area, and a relaxed relaxing neighborhood bar to have great drinks and listen to a nice music. Intended to be an historical icon in their community, the bar is located literally in a big old house at one level in the Dilworth neighborhood. You can walk through the rooms downstairs before going upstairs where you will find a big and beautiful bar with a front balcony overlooking the parking lot. One mile away from Uptown Charlotte, The Bar at the 316 takes advantage of its proximity by being the closest gay and lesbian bar to the City Center. The bar is wanted to be re-invented to keep the place new, fresh, and attractive worth of legacy. That is why in December 2009, the bar got a new makeover and reboot. By the fact of being no-smoking, the bar is inspiring a clean environment as it is its Citycity, Charlotte. Set up with a Wii as well as other entertaining games, the bar also contribute to distress his members by the use of the technology. To become a member at the Bar at 316, you have to be a regular of the bar and fan at their Facebook page which one is https://www.facebook.com/thebarat316?ref=ts.
