In a world that is evolving with the technology around it a new way of presenting information was bound to appear.

This new form was found in the infographic. Using this layout I was able to analyze the dilemma between the two groups that are arguing about prayer in public schools. In this essay I plan to show how the infographic genre is a viable way to forward the argument that prayer in school is not a violation of ones rights but instead the protection of them. My purpose for using this infographic was to illustrate the two sides of the argument that prayer in schools does not violate anyones rights. The infographic allowed me to use visual aids to show how each side of the argument is arguing about something different and how that if they were to come together that there could be a peaceful agreement reached that would please everyone involved. While I feel that my argument was furthered by genre I will admit that I am by no means an artist. I do not pretend to know how colors go together or clash with one another. This did present a problem when I was trying to figure out just what colors I should use in order to best entice the audience. For the layout of my infographic I used the design that was called two sides of the same coin. This infographic was ideal for helping me visually define the position that both parties are taking. I broke down my infographic into different stages. First I said what the infographic was about and stated what the two sides were. I then moved down and stated the major players and events that have influenced the debate. Next I analyzed the arguments that both parties have. Finally I brought my text box to the center of the infographic and said how the two sides could compromise. I feel this helped tie the entire peace together as well as allowed me to add my thoughts on how I thought the argument could be solved. The visuals in my infographic were a bit of a challenge. It boiled down to me wanting to have visuals that conveyed what both sides were wanting without feeling like I was using the same visuals over and over while just adding a slash through them. It is with this in mind that I went to the internet and was able to find a comic that shows a school For my choice in color I was able to use the assigned reading to help my aforementioned lacking of art skills. For example when I read the assigned reading from the Purdue Owl that referenced the color wheel I was able to find this tip, The more a color contrasts with the colors around it, the more easily visible that color will appear. This fact is extremely important when using different colored texts and backgrounds(Pepper) It is with this in mind that I was able to go with a purple background and use a golden colored font to offer a greater contrast that helped my readability. It is also with this in mind that I chose to do a white font with red back ground for the other side of the argument. Coupling this with my limited knowledge of colors and what they mean in different cultures I chose the purple to represent royalty as stated in the color powerpoint from the Purdue Owl, Its an important to remember that these color associations do not come from the color itself. Without us to interpret it, red is simply light and doesnt need an interpretive characteristic. (pepper) The font and text of my inforgraphic was used to distinguish the two sides of the argument. I also chose the color of the font so that it would directly contrast

with my back ground so that it would be more readable as was mentioned in our assigned reading from My audience for this infographic is going to be those who are interested in the issue. This group I have identified as being either teachers or parents of students who are directly affected by the issue of taking prayer out of school. I managed to establish my ethos with this group by providing the links to my research and to my pictures thus showing that the sources are reliable and trustworthy. Since this genre is all about visuals establishing my pathos was as simple as a color change. After reading through the Purdue Owl powerpoint I was able to pick colors that would evoke the emotions I wanted. For example purple represents royalty and authority, which people associate with God. On the other hand I chose red, which invokes anger and rage. I predict that these colors will lead people to want to lean more towards the purple side. As a genre infographics allow the user many more options than a traditional essay. It allows for the use of pictures and graphs to help evoke emotion and thought. The infographic also allows for a person to remain impartial and professional. To put this im to perspective I find it best to quote Albert Einstein saying, Any fool can know. The point is to understand. I feel that the inforgraphic genre helps people understand what an author is trying to convey and not just to have them see the presentation.
