The project was commissioned by

National Grid to reinforce the UK
National Gas Transmission System
(NTS) by constructing approximately
22 kilometres of 900mm (36) Nominal
Bore (NB) buried pipeline, of all
welded steel construction.
The pipeline design pressure is
75 barg and runs between the existing Above Ground Installation (AGI) at
Willington (O.S. ref. TL 119 491), and
the existing AGI at Steppingley (O.S.
ref. TL 009 340), all within the County of
Bedfordshire, UK.
The project was administered entirely
on-line with the minimum of paper
generated.
The first phase of works was the
Conceptual Design stage between July
2001 and November 2001 followed
by Detail design and planning -completed between December 2001 and
April 2002, with construction activities
between May 2002 and completion by
end December 2002.

BPAs scope of works was to provide

all related professional Project Services
in support of National Grid for the
Conceptual, Detailed Design and
Construction Phases. From an
integrated mix of industry expertise BPA
provided the entire site based Project
Management team consisting of:
